ARGENTINA #2 – highligst of Patagonia: Mt. Fitz Roy

My first stop in Patagonia has been El Chaltèn to do hikes and explore the area around Mt. Fitz Roy in Los Glaciares National Park. Fitz Roy is the most popular trekking destination in all of Argentine Patagonia. For that reason El Chaltèn is considered the trekking capital of Argentina. This little town is located right at the entrance of the park and does make a good base for day hikes.
Because Monika loves cemeteries, she found it and took us there. Our first impression was just WOW! We stared with mouths agape and couldn’t stop taking pictures and thinking how much work it cost. How a man who did all this was skilled and motivated. Simply incredible. Let’s walk with us again through those narrow paths and let’s contemplate.
One Step from Death - Hiking Angels Landing (Photos)

It was still early, but it felt like mid day since I was up so early and already did a decent hike, and the thought of hiking Angels Landing, one of the most dangerous hikes in the country, was getting more and more daunting in my head. Between debating what time to start the hike, wondering if I could stay up for sunset and make it down safely, or just go early and not risk it. Oh, and if you're wondering why it's called Angels Landing, it's because it was believed it could only be reached by Angels.
