Time to travel: Mauritius Part 1

We started our trip in Vienna with a flight of the Air Mauritius and a stopover in Paris at the Charles De Gaulle airport. The airport in Paris is really huge with its own bus lines between the terminals and departure gates. Here you have to be really careful and look closely at the existing lines and stops of the buses and definitely plan enough time. From Paris we went directly to Mauritius. The airport is in the south of the island, from there we took a taxi to our hotel. Our hotel the Tamassa Resort was in the south near Bel Ombre.

The Tamassa Resort is a beautiful hotel in which an all-inclusive catering is offered. The hotel has 2 restaurants, one is located directly on the beach. In the complex there are a total of 3 different pools, a spa and wellness area, a diving school and several bars. The hotel is highly recommended for everyone and is really great. The staff is more than friendly and helpful.

The beautiful sandy beach is flat sloping but the flow is strong and if you are snorkeling you have to be careful. There is a beautiful reef near the beach, where many beautiful colorful fish are to be observed.
Because we spent our holiday in Mauritius in June, the weather was not always suitable for swimming. Although the temperatures were comfortable, the wind was relatively cool most of the time. Therefore, we explored the island on the not so nice days.

We took a taxi and our first destination was the seven-colored earth and the Chamarel waterfall.

The seven-colored earth is a unique natural attraction. The various minerals in the ground created the different colors. Around the seven-colored earth is arranged a small park. In the park are beautiful tropical plants and you can visit large tortoises.

Then we went to the Chamarel waterfall. The waterfall has an impressive height and is visible from a viewing platform opposite the canyon. The waterfall is about the height of the Empire State Building.

After a visit to the waterfall, we drove to the Black River Gorges National Park, where we stopped at another viewing platform to visit a beautiful valley with another waterfall. In the area of the observation deck monkeys are around, which are not shy at all. However, you should not get too close to them.

At our last stop that day, we visited Ganga Talao. This is a Hindu temple complex with statues and a lake, which was created by a meteorite impact. Before entering the temple, there are 2 huge statues along the road. These are over 30 meters high and represent Shiva and Durga Maa Bhavani.
Every year during the Shivaratri, several thousand Hindus from all over the world make a pilgrimage to this sacred site.
Around the lake are arranged various temple. In the different temples different Hindu statues are to be visited. In one temple you can be blessed with a Hindu ritual.

After sightseeing we went back to our hotel where we let the day end on the beach.

SAME POST BUT GERMAN

Wir starteten unsere Reise in Wien mit einem Flug der Air Mauritius und einen Zwischenstopp in Paris am Charles De Gaulle Flughafen. Der Flughafen in Paris ist wirklich riesengroß mit eigenen Buslinien zwischen den Terminals und Abfluggates. Hier muss man wirklich genau aufpassen und die sich die vorhandenen Linien und Stopps der Busse genau ansehen und auf jeden Fall genügend Zeit einplanen. Von Paris ging es dann direkt nach Mauritius. Der Flughafen liegt im Süden der Insel, von dort haben wir ein Taxi zu unserem Hotel genommen. Unser Hotel das Tamassa Resort liegt im Süden in der Nähe von Bel Ombre.

Das Tamassa Resort ist ein wunderschönes Hotel in welchem auch eine All-Inclusive Verpflegung angeboten wird. Im Hotel befinden sich 2 Restaurant, wobei eines davon direkt am Strand liegt. In der Anlage befinden sich insgesamt 3 verschiedene Pools, ein Spa und Wellnessbereich, eine Tauschule und mehrere Bars. Das Hotel ist eigentlich für jedermann zu empfehlen und ist wirklich super ausgestattet. Das Personal ist mehr als freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Der wunderschöne Sandstrand ist flach abfallend jedoch ist die Strömung stark und beim Schnorcheln sollte man entsprechend aufpassen. Es befindet sich ein schönes Riff in Strandnähe, wo viele schöne bunte Fische zu beobachten sind.
Da wir im Juni unseren Urlaub auf Mauritius verbrachten war das Wetter nicht immer zum Schwimmen und Baden geeignet. Die Temperaturen waren zwar angenehm war, jedoch war der Wind die meiste Zeit relativ kühl. Deshalb erkundeten wir an den nicht so schönen Tagen die Insel.

Als erstes Ziel ging es mit dem Taxi zu den siebenfarbigen Erden und dem Chamarel-Wasserfall.

Die siebenfarbige Erde ist ein weltweit einzigartiges Naturschauspiel. Durch die verschiedenen Mineralien im Boden sind die unterschiedlichen Farben entstanden. Rundum der Erde befindet sich ein kleiner Park. Im Park kann man schöne tropische Pflanzen und große Landschildkröten besichtigen.

Danach ging es weiter zum Chamarel-Wasserfall. Der Wasserfall hat eine beeindruckende Höhe und ist von einer Aussichtsplattform gegenüber der Schlucht zu beobachten. Der Wasserfall hat ungefähr die Höhe des Empire State Building.

Nach Besichtigung des Wasserfalles fuhren wir weiter in den Black River Gorges National Park, wo wir bei einem weiteren Stopp an einer Aussichtsplattform ein wunderschönes Tal mit einem weiteren Wasserfall besichtigten. Im Bereich der Aussichtsplattform tummeln sich Affen herum, welche überhaupt nicht scheu sind. Jedoch sollte man diesen nicht zu nahe kommen.

Bei unserem letzten Stopp an diesem Tag besichtigten wir Ganga Talao. Hierbei handelt es sich um eine hinduistische Tempelanlage mit Statuen und einem See, welcher bei einem Meteoriteneinschlag entstanden ist. Bevor man die Tempelanlage betritt befinden sich 2 riesige Statuen entlang der Straße. Die beiden Statuen sind über 30 Meter hoch und stellen Shiva und Durga Maa Bhavani dar. Während der Shivaratri pilgern jedes Jahr mehrere tausend Hindus aus aller Welt zu dieser heiligen Stätte. Um den See sind verschiedene Tempelanlagen angeordnet. In den verschiedenen Tempel sind unterschiedliche Hindu-Statuen zu besichtigen. In einem Tempel kann man sich bei einem Hindu-Ritual segnen lassen.

Nach dieser Besichtigung ging es wieder zurück zu unserem Hotel wo wir den Tag am Strand ausklingen ließen.
