Random Food Trips #3: Eat & chat with my family & friendships!

March 2020 · 6 min read · The Philippines

Hello there food lovers! I'm back once again for another one of my random food trip stories in the Philippines. This time, I'm sharing to you about my eating moments with my family and friends.

Bigby's Cafe & Restaurant @ Ayala Malls Capitol Central

It was my dad's 64th birthday, and we decided to eat somewhere that we've never tried before. I quickly searched on some interesting restaurants within the Ayala Malls Capitol Central. I ended up reserving a table at Bigby's Cafe and Restaurant. Two of my aunts and our cousin are invited to my dad's birthday celebration. Both of my aunts are the younger sisters of my dad.

We ordered a couple of family platters (Belly Buster and New Orleans shrimp platter) and Chimi Cha Cha salad. The Belly Buster costs around P695 or $14.00 and the New Orleans shrimp platter is around P795 or $16.00. As for the Chimi Cha Cha salad, it's around P339 or $6.62.

Overall, it was absolutely delicious and I really mean it! Despite that it's kind of pricey, but it's worth trying. Bigby's Restaurant was located at the upper floor of Ayala Malls Capitol Central Bacolod City.

This is another one of my bonding moments with my best friend Peter and his younger brother. Usually, we hang out at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central for most of the time. However, I would want to try somewhere else, which is near the New Government Center.

We ended up seeing each other at the Hi-Strip 4. There are lots of restaurants for us to choose from, and we choose to eat and bond at Ethan's Coffee. It's kinda new to us and I really loved the interior design and arrangements of the place. There's an area in which we can sit in crossed legs.

As for our meal, we choose Barkada Platter Set A which only costs P399 or $8.00, and can be shared to 2 to 3 persons. While waiting for the meal to come, I borrowed the resto's guitar and played for a little while.

Overall, their barkada meal is absolutely mouth-watering, especially the veggie ramen. **Ethan's Coffee is located at the ground floor of Hi-Strip 4 building in front of Panasiatic Solutions call center company. **

The Pyramid

If I have a guy best friend, I also have a female best friend. Her name is Jean. Usually we call each other as "Besh" or "Beshie" as a slang. Although it's a bit of a female slang, but we're comfortable with that. She already had a fiancee named Giveson, who is having two beautiful children.

He didn't mind about us bonding together, because he knows I respect them. There's a time that I went to Cebu via Ceres Terminal to conduct a cryptocurrency seminar, and we met on a rainy evening.

As Giveson is having a company occasion, he let me and Jean eat somewhere else. We ended up at The Pyramid and I treated Jean for the dinner. I have to be honest with you guys that the menu is quite expensive, and I forgot exactly the prices of the meals we've ordered. We both are having fun chatting after not seeing each other for a long time.

Even though that their menu is so pricey, the meals we ordered are very delicious. The Pyramid is located within the IT Park Cebu.

There's a time that Jean and Giveson went to my hometown Bacolod City. I wasted no time meeting Jean again despite only a few hours because of her online work shift. They stayed in a condo near the Robinson's Place Mall Bacolod.

We've met each other outside of the Robinson's mall and eat lunch at the Masskara Chicken Inasal. I have tried a lot of chicken inasal meals in other restaurants, and this one was no different. They've cooked and prepared it very well. The price of their pechopak chicken inasal was P93 or $1.82, with one rice worth P20 each or $0.40 and regular iced tea worth P30 or $0.60 each.

After our lunch, we go inside the mall to have some cold chocolate drink dessert at Breadtalk Cafe (formerly known as Toast Box). I also forgot the exact prices of these choco drinks that we both ordered.

We chit-chatted something fun that was happening in our lives back then. However, Jean have to go back to her rented condo unit because of her online work shift. At least, I'm thankful to my female best friend for spending a little bit of time with me before going on our separate ways.

As much as I love my male best friend Peter (whom I already treated as my big brother), I also love Jean as my female best friend. It took us a very long time to meet each other again, but we're staying connected through social media.

I've been co-working at Arendo Coworking Space near the University of St. La Salle Bacolod for a long while. During that time, I was invited to take part of their 1st year anniversary. I noticed that they've taken out a couple of XXL super supreme pizza from Greenoz and prepared some spaghetti and drinks as well.

Currently, there are few Greenoz branches in Bacolod City. The Supremo XXL pizza cost around P905 or $17.68, which were sliced in squares. It was estimated that one Supremo XXL pizza can be shared to 20+ persons.

Before eating, we get to know each other first by introducing ourselves and our respective backgrounds. The beautiful owner with a Chinese descent planned this anniversary for all of us. In the end, we're having fun eating and chatting with each other.

After staying for a month in Makati, my then-business colleague and good friend Veronica invited me to dine with her. She took me to Quezon City at night. I had to admit that it's my first time stepping foot at Quezon City.

Veronica and I ended up eating at the Seafood Island restaurant. It's well-known and popular for it's creative boodle feast meals. Since we're just the two of us, we ordered the Dapitan's Pride boodle feast meals for P799 or $16.00. The good thing is that it can be shared to 3 to 4 persons.

Veronica also befriended the restaurant manager, and have some business talks about loyalty reward opportunities or so. There are many Seafood Island branches in the Philippines. However, if you are in Quezon City, it's just along the Eastwood Citywalk.
