Temple of Leah and Kerygma Conference with my sis and friends

February 2020 · 6 min read · Cebu

Hello once again travelmaniacs and Steemitians! I am back once again for another one of my travel stories. This time, I'm sharing about our exploration to the Temple of Leah and attending Kerygma Conference with my beautiful sister and her friends.

It was in the last week of November 2018, where my sister and her friends invited me to join them in attending the Kerygma Conference. For those of you who don't know about the Kerygma conference yet, you can check it here.

Day 1: The duration of the flight between Bacolod and Cebu is approximately 30 minutes only. After our arrival, we ate breakfast at a local carinderia near the IT Park in Cebu. After that, we proceed to check-in our baggage at the hotel. Unfortunately, I forgot about the hotel that we have stayed that time, but it was near the Cebu IT Park.

We took a few hours rest before eating lunch somewhere in another local carinderia. They served lots of varieties such as chicken, shanghai rolls, vegetables with lots of puso rice (also known as hanging rice, which was boiled and covered with leaves in triangular form made from woven coconut). When they serve meals, one regular rice is equivalent to three puso rice. It was affordable to be honest, especially with my sister and friends.

After our lunch, we look for a coffee shop to chill for a bit. Good thing there's Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, one of my favorite coffee shops to stay because of Chocolate Pecan, Salted Popcorn and the Original Mocha frappucino.

As we are planning to go to the Temple of Leah, we ride on a habal-habal motorcycle. Surprisingly, they only charge us P100 or $2.00 each on a back-and-forth trip. It's an uphill ride going to the Temple of Leah, and the estimated travel is between 15 to 20 minutes, depending on traffic condition.

Unfortunately, I made a mistake when taking off from the habal-habal motorcycle. My right thigh touched the motorcycle's muffler and it got burned. My sister quickly applied some toothpaste for relief and covered it with handkerchief temporarily. As of today, it only left me a mark and I don't mind about it.

At the same time, it was raining too. The good thing is that we did brought an umbrella (but not the jacket). The entrance to explore the Temple of Leah is only P50 or $1.00.

And here we are at the Temple of Leah!

After paying the entrance fee there's a bit of an uphill climb going to the sightseeing area.

About a lil' history of the Temple of Leah, it was built around 2012. For 53 years, Teodorico Soriano Adarna had loved his wife unconditionally. As for his undying devotion and love to Leah Villa Albino-Adarna, this temple was built for her. It was also dubbed as the "Taj Mahal of Cebu".

Despite the burn pain I felt in my right thigh, I'm just trying to enjoy myself there along with my sister and friends. After spending like an hour there on the Temple of Leah, we head back to our hotel by riding on our respective habal-habal motorcycle drivers.

I immediately bought some bandage and ointment to contain the burning sensation in my right thigh. I also put some ice pack on it. I had to admit that I have trouble walking and sleeping. But I'm trying not to mind at all, because my goal is to enjoy with them. We slept for another few hours before eating dinner at the Shaka Hawaiian Restaurant at the Cebu IT Park. It's just walking distance from our hotel.

It's a treetop restaurant, so it's kinda cool for me. But what I really liked about them is the food. The baked scallops, mixed veggies, etc. I just loved our dinner and bonding together.

Before heading off to the hotel, we took some time going to the Waterfront Hotel and Casino. It's where the Kerygma Conference will be held on the following day. We managed to see the setup, rehearsals, etc. Since we already have bought tickets in advance, we just simply have them print our entry pass so that we don't need to fall in line.

Day 2: It's Kerygma Conference day! It's an annual event by Bro. Bo Sanchez, a motivational speaker for Roman Catholics. He founded the Feast, which is all about praise and worship. and bible study. In the morning, we ate our ramen breakfast before walking to the Waterfront Hotel and Casino.

All I can say is that it's a wonderful spiritual experience at the Kerygma Conference in Cebu City. I just thanked my sister Aira for letting me experience Kerygma Conference for the first time. It's all about giving back and praising God all the time!

After attending the Kerygma Conference, we went to Ayala Malls Cebu to buy some pasalubong such as masareal, dried mangoes, otap, original chicharon, banana chips and so on. Afterward, we go to Kuya J's Restaurant for our dinner and dessert!

After our dinner, we head back to our hotel to rest and prepare for an early morning flight back to Bacolod City. I can say that Temple of Leah is such a stunning tourist attraction in Cebu. This is a must-visit for local and foreign tourists who wants to visit the Queen City of the South.
