Hey guys! Today I want to tell you about the second city I visited in Poland last month. After a very nice time in the capital, I went to the northernmost part of the country to visit the unique port city of Gdansk. I was lucky with the weather and so I could even enjoy hot temperatures of over 30°C on the beach, which is only a half-hour tram ride from the city centre. However, most of the time I spent again on my passion, photography!

Hallo Leute! Heute möchte ich euch von der zweiten Stadt berichten, die ich letzen Monat in Polen besuchte. Nach einer sehr schönen Zeit in der Hauptstadt, ging es für mich in den nördlichsten Teil des Landes, um die einzigartige Hafenstadt Danzig zu besuchen. Ich hatte Glück mit dem Wetter und so konnte ich sogar heiße Temperaturen von über 30°C am Strand, der sich nur eine halbstündige Straßenbahnfahrt vom Stadtzentrum entfernt befindet, genießen. Die meiste Zeit widmete ich mich jedoch wieder meiner Leidenschaft, der Fotografie!

Due to the northern location and my travel time at the end of June, I was able to experience particularly long sunsets and twilight phases in Gdansk. The Golden Hour lasted for several hours and my favourite time for taking pictures, the Blue Hour, actually took a whole hour or even longer and sometimes lasted almost until midnight. These were conditions I could hardly have wished better!

Durch die nördliche Lage und meine Reisezeit Ende Juni, konnte ich in Danzig besonders lange Sonnenuntergänge und Dämmerungsphasen erleben. Die Goldene Stunde zog sich über mehrere Stunden und meine Lieblingszeit zum Fotografieren, die Blaue Stunde, dauerte tatsächlich eine ganze Stunde oder sogar länger und zog sich teilweise fast bis Mitternacht. Es waren Bedingungen, wie ich sie mir kaum hätte besser wünschen können!

In this photo you can see the famous crane gate - probably the most famous landmark of the city, which is crossed by many canals in which the house fronts are beautifully reflected. The old town of Gdansk was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War, but it was rebuilt in an impressive way and one hardly gets out of amazement today.

Auf diesem Foto seht ihr das berühmte Krantor - wohl das bekannteste Wahrzeichen der Stadt, die von vielen Kanälen durchzogen wird, in denen sich die Häuserfronten wunderschön spiegeln. Die Altstadt von Danzig wurde im zweiten Weltkrieg fast vollständig zerstört, jedoch in beeindruckender Art und Weise wieder aufgebaut und man kommt wirklich kaum aus dem Staunen heraus.

I have rarely visited a city in which old and new architecture are so harmoniously connected and, in the case of many house fronts, merge almost seamlessly into each other. The whole cityscape looks very homogeneous, no matter if you are in the heart of the old town or in newer districts with modern buildings.

Selten habe ich eine Stadt besucht, in der alte und neue Architektur so harmonisch miteinander verbunden sind und im Falle vieler Häuserfronten fast nahtlos ineinander übergehen. Das gesamte Stadtbild wirkt sehr homogen, egal ob man sich im Herzen der Altstadt oder in neueren Stadtteilen mit modernen Gebäuden befindet.

I also used my crystal ball again and again during the impressive twilight phases. In the end I liked this photo the most. Here you can also see the contrast between the houses of the old town on one side and the modern house fronts on the other side of the river.

Auch meine Glaskugel kam während der beeindruckenden Dämmerungsphasen immer wieder zum Einsatz. Am Ende gefiel mir dieses Foto am besten. Hier sieht man auch den Kontrast zwischen den Häusern der Altstadt auf der einen Seite und den modernen Häuserfronten auf der anderen Seite des Flusses.

In the heart of the old town there are the Długa Street and the town hall. Tourism is booming in Gdansk and this is especially noticeable in this part of the city. Due to the long exposure time of this picture, one can only guess how many people are enjoying the warm evenings here in summer. I felt very welcome in this wonderful city and I will definitely come back again! In the next article I will tell you about my last destination in Poland, which also impressed me very much!

Im Kern der Altstadt befinden sich die Langgasse und das Rathaus. Der Tourismus boomt in Danzig und das merkt man besonders in diesem Teil der Stadt. Durch die lange Belichtungszeit sieht kann man auf dieser Aufnahme nur erahnen, wie viele Menschen hier im Sommer die lauen Abende genießen. Ich fühlte mich sehr wohl in dieser traumhaften Stadt und komme auf jeden Fall gerne wieder! Im nächsten Artikel erzähle ich euch dann von meinem letzen Reiseziel in Polen, das mich ebenfalls sehr beeindruckte!
