JAJCE - A hidden Gem in Bosnia [EN/DE]

Hey, guys! I hope you had a good start into the weekend! Today I'd like to show you another unknown but fascinating place! I'm sure that at least 95% of you have never heard of Jajce in central Bosnia. The town, which has almost 30,000 inhabitants, is located about 70 kilometers south of Banja Luka and was once the residence of the kings of Bosnia.

Hallo Leute! Ich hoffe ihr hattet einen guten Start ins Wochenende! Heute möchte ich euch mal wieder einen recht unbekannten, aber faszinierenden Ort vorstellen! Ich bin mir sicher, dass mindestens 95% von euch noch nie von Jajce in Zentralbosnien gehört haben. Die knapp 30.000 Einwohner zählende Stadt liegt ca. 70km südlich von Banja Luka und war einst Sitz der Könige Bosniens.

The beautiful old town and the castle hill with its fortress are on the list of candidates for the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. The decision is still pending, but the inhabitants are so proud of their candidacy that a sign at the entrance of the city informs about it.

Die wunderschöne Altstadt und der Burgberg mit seiner Festung stehen auf der Liste der Kandidaten für das UNESCO Weltkulturerbe. Die Entscheidung ist noch ausständig, aber die Einwohner sind schon auf die Kandidatur so stolz, dass ein Schild am Ortseingang darauf hinweist.

The river Pliva flows over a 20-metre high waterfall into the Vrbas canyon. The photogenic waterfall is one of Jajce's landmarks.

Über einen 20 Meter hohen Wasserfall stürzt sich der Fluss Pliva hier in die Vrbas-Schlucht. Der fotogene Wasserfall ist eines der Wahrzeichen von Jajce.

If you follow the road along the Vrbas through the canyon, you can discover small villages where time seems to stand still. Krupa na Vrbasu is one of them. In this area it even happened from time to time that I didn't have any signal on my phone.

Folgt man der Straße entlang des Vrbas durch die Schlucht, kann man kleine Ortschaften entdecken, in denen die Zeit fast stehengeblieben zu sein scheint. Krupa na Vrbasu ist eine davon. In dieser Gegend kam es sogar hin und wieder vor, dass ich keinen Netzempfang bei meinem Handy hatte.

Once you have climbed the castle hill, you can enjoy beautiful views of the central Bosnian landscape and the lower parts of Jajce.

Hat man den Burgberg erklommen, kann man wunderschöne Ausblicke auf die zentralbosnische Landschaft und die unteren Stadtteile von Jajce genießen.

Bosnia has a lot more highlights to offer and is in my opinion one of the most underrated travel destinations in Europe! I hope I could inspire you a bit to travel through this interesting country yourself with this short insight!

Bosnien hat noch viele weitere Highlights zu bieten und ist meiner Ansicht nach, eines der meistunterschätzten Reiseländer Europas! Ich hoffe, ich konnte euch mit diesem kurzen Einblick, Lust darauf machen, selbst mal dieses interessante Land zu bereisen!
