My Balkan-Roadtrip 2018: Visiting NOVI SAD [EN/DE]

Good morning from Novi Sad, dear Steemians! I have explored this beautiful city extensively in the last two days and would like to present my impressions briefly to you today!

Guten Morgen aus Novi Sad, liebe Steemianer! Ich habe diese wunderschöne Stadt in den letzten beiden Tagen ausgiebig erkundet und möchte euch heute kurz meine Eindrücke präsentieren!

Novi Sad is the second largest city of Serbia and capital of Vojvodina region. The center of this modern and clean city is the main square with two buildings that immediately catch the eye. On the one hand the neo-renaissance town hall and on the other hand the cathedral, in neo-gothic style with its 73 meter high tower.

Novi Sad ist die zweitgrößte Stadt Serbiens und Hauptstadt der Region Vojvodina. Das Zentrum dieser modernen und sauberen Stadt bildet der Hauptplatz auf dem besondern zwei Bauwerke sofort ins Auge stechen. Zum einen das im Neo-Renaissancestil errichtete Rathaus und zum anderen die Kathedrale im Neogotischen Baustil, mit ihrem 73 Meter hohen Turm.

Another main attraction of the town is the Petrovaradin fortress, which is located on the opposite bank of the Danube and does not officially belong to the city of Novi Sad.

Eine weitere Hauptsehenswürdigkeit der Stadt ist die Festung Petrovaradin, die sich am gegenüberliegenden Ufer der Donau befindet und offiziell gar nicht mehr zum Stadtgebiet von Novi Sad gehört.

The clock tower is the city's landmark. Of particular interest is that the smaller hand shows the minutes and the larger hand the hours. Until now I thought this was a unique feature of the Clock Tower of Graz.

Der Uhrturm ist das Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Besonders interessant ist, dass der kleinere Zeiger die Minuten und der Größere die Stunden anzeigt. Bisher dachte ich, das wäre ein einzigartiges Merkmal der Uhrturms von Graz.

From the fortress you can enjoy wonderful views in all directions, both of the Danube and of the city and its surroundings. Unfortunately the weather in the last days was very warm, but a bit unstable. That's why most of the pictures show a cloudy sky, sometimes it even rained slightly.

Von der Festung hat man in alle Richtungen wunderbare Ausblicke, sowohl auf die Donau, als auch auf die Stadt und Ihre Umgebung. Leider war das Wetter in den letzten Tagen zwar sehr warm, aber etwas unbeständig. Deshalb seht ihr auf den meisten Bildern auch einen ziemlich wolkenverhangenen Himmel, zeitweise regnete es auch leicht.

Novi Sad will be the European Capital of Culture in 2021, but there is no shortage of visitors already now. Again and again you hear people speak English. Tourists no longer come only from the inland.

Novi Sad wird 2021 die Kulturhauptstadt Europas sein, doch schon jetzt mangelt es nicht an Besuchern. Immer wieder hört man Leute englisch sprechen. Die Touristen kommen längst nicht mehr nur aus dem Inland.

Another particularly beautiful building is the Bishop's Palace, where the main promenade "Zmaj Jovina" begins. Right next to it is the Orthodox church with its uniquely shaped spire.

Ein besonders schönes Bauwerk ist auch der Bischofspalast, an dem die Hauptflaniermeile „Zmaj Jovina“ beginnt. Direkt daneben, befindet sich die orthodoxe Kirche mit ihrer einzigartig geformten Turmspitze.

In mid-July, the famous EXIT festival takes place every year on the grounds of the fortress. Visitors adore the unique atmosphere of this event.

Mitte Juli findet alljährlich auf dem Gelände der Festung, das berühmte EXIT-Festival statt. Die Besucher schwärmen von der einzigartigen Atmosphäre dieses Events.

Novi Sad is a very vibrant city, with cosy cafés with terraces everywhere and when the sun goes down, some streets turn into a party mile. Numerous pubs, bars and clubs make the selection really difficult.

Novi Sad ist eine sehr lebendige Stadt, überall locken gemütliche Cafés mit ihren Terrassen und wenn die Sonne untergegangen ist, verwandeln sich einige Straßenzüge in eine einzige Partymeile. Zahlreiche Pubs, Bars und Clubs machen die Auswahl wirklich schwer.

I must say, I was really impressed by this city. You'll feel right at home here. I can only advise you to visit Novi Sad yourself, because as in so many cities in the Balkans, it is hard to believe how much you get here for your money! I definitely want to come back!

Ich muss sagen, mich hat diese Stadt wirklich begeistert. Man fühlt sich hier sofort wohl. Ich kann euch nur raten, Novi Sad selbst mal zu besuchen, denn wie in so vielen Städten der Balkanstaaten, ist es auch hier kaum zu glauben, wie viel man für sein Geld geboten bekommt! Ich will auf jeden Fall wiederkommen!
