My first City Walk in TORONTO - [EN/DE]

Hey guys! Yesterday was my first day in Toronto and from morning to evening I had wonderfully sunny weather. Of course I used the time for a first city walk and would like to tell you today about my first impressions!

Hallo Leute! Gestern war mein erster Tag in Toronto und von morgens bis abends hatte ich herrlich sonniges Wetter. Natürlich habe ich die Zeit für einen ersten Stadtspaziergang genutzt und möchte euch heute von meinen ersten Eindrücken erzählen!

Of course I started right in the centre of the city, Downtown Toronto. By subway I went directly to Yonge Street, the main street of the city. It is also officially the longest road in the world, leading over almost 1,900 km to the north of Ontario.

Natürlich startete ich gleich im Zentrum der Stadt, Downtown Toronto. Per U-Bahn ging es direkt zur Yonge Street, der Hauptverkehrsader der Stadt. Es handelt sich dabei auch offiziell um die längste Straße der Welt, die über fast 1.900km bis in den Norden Ontarios führt.

Soon I reached Yonge-Dundas Square, one of the busiest squares in town. With its many neon signs it reminds of Time Square in Manhattan or Piccadilly Circus in London.

Bald erreichte ich den Yonge-Dundas Square, einen der belebtesten Plätze der Stadt. Mit seinen vielen Leuchtreklamen erinnert er an den Time Square in Manhattan oder den PIccadilly Circus in London.

I continued through the canyons of skyscrapers to the square of the new and old town hall. Here is also the Toronto lettering, a popular photo motif for tourists. As it seems, the city has so far been spared from mass tourism, which I find very enjoyable.

Weiter ging es durch die Hochhausschluchten zum Platz des neuen und alten Rathauses. Hier befindet sich auch der Toronto Schriftzug, ein beliebtes Fotomotiv für Touristen. Wie es aussieht, ist die Stadt vom Massentourismus bisher noch verschont geblieben, was ich als sehr angenehm empfinde.

Afterwards I followed Yonge Street further south and passed interesting places and buildings again and again. The people here are extremely friendly and very open. You can always see really freaky people. It's pretty hard to stand out here. What a sharp contrast to Almaty! Travelling two such different metropolises in a row is really a unique experience!

Anschließend folgte ich der Yonge Street weiter Richtung Süden und passierte immer wieder interessante Plätze und Gebäude. Die Leute hier sind extrem freundlich und sehr offen. Man sieht auch immer wieder echt schräge Personen. Aufzufallen ist hier wirklich schwer. Was für ein krasser Gegensatz zu Almaty! Zwei so unterschiedliche Metropolen direkt hintereinander zu bereisen ist wirklich eine einzigartige Erfahrung!

Finally I arrived at the lakeside promenade of Lake Ontario. Here you can relax wonderfully and have a great view of the Toronto Islands, as well as planes approaching the small Toronto City Airport.

Schließlich kam ich an der Uferpromenade des Ontariosees an. Hier kann man wunderbar entspannen und hat eine tolle Aussicht auf die Toronto Islands, sowie Flugzeuge, die sich im Landeanflug auf den kleinen Toronto City Airport befinden.

My next stop was the city's landmark, the famous CN Tower. The 555m high building is still the third highest TV tower in the world. For the moment I just wanted to know about prices and opening hours. I didn't want to go up until sunset. Unfortunately, one only has the choice between a glazed viewing platform and another level with a close-meshed fence. Of course, both are unsuitable for taking pictures at sunset and at night. So I'm still wondering if I will go up there.

Meine nächste Station war das Wahrzeichen der Stadt, der berühmte CN Tower. Das 555m hohe Bauwerk ist noch heute der dritthöchste Fernsehturm der Welt. Vorerst wollte ich mich nur mal über Preise und Öffnungszeiten erkundigen. Hinauffahren wollte ich erst zum Sonnenuntergang. Leider hat man nur die Wahl zwischen einer verglasten Aussichtsplattform und einer anderen Ebene mit einem engmaschigen Zaun. Natürlich ist beides ungeeignet um bei Sonnenuntergang und Nachts zu fotografieren. Ich überlege deshalb noch immer, ob ich überhaupt hinauffahren werde.

After this first tour through downtown Toronto my energy was running out. Unfortunately I have a cold, I feel the jetlag and the hot weather also contributed to this. Fortunately, I still have three full days to explore the city and of course I will continue to tell you about it!

Nach dieser ersten Tour durch Downtown Toronto waren meine Kräfte erstmal am Ende. Ich bin leider ziemlich erkältet, spüre den Jetlag und das heiße Wetter trug auch seinen Teil dazu bei. Zum Glück habe ich noch drei volle Tage Zeit, um die Stadt ausgiebig zu erkunden und werde euch natürlich weiterhin davon berichten!
