For those of you who are of a certain age, this post will undoubtedly trigger feelings of nostalgia and the odd flash back as you wander through the streets within The Caboolture Historical Village, and view the sights........of a By-Gone Era.
Sights such as Ted Hague's General Store, for instance.
The Caboolture Historical Village, is located on 280 Beerburrum Road. This fascinating village is situated on 4 hectares (about 12 acres) of land not far from the Caboolture town centre and it is one of the top tourist destinations in the region.
A trip to the store of a few decades ago could entail a call to friends or family from the iconic, red mail box, or a chance to fill up the car with BP petrol.
Inside this fascinating store was a treasure trove of collectibles and antiques.
Kerosene lamps hung from the ceiling.
Tins, bottles, salves and medicines from yesteryear lined the wooden shelves.
A framed poster of Australia's much loved and well known Arnott's biscuits was on display.
An old Coca-Cola advertising poster showed a bottles as they used to be and I was reminded that this brand has been famous (and popular) for a very long time indeed.
Teapots ranging from small to medium to large, adorned another shelf in the store.
Old tins gathered over an extended period of time must have been donated by locals.
They included brands such as; Treacle, Golden Syrup, Milo, Norco, Palmolive and even Aunt Mary's Vanilla Custard Powder.
These solid scales would have sorted out countless weighty issues over the years.
This solid old cash register must have seen a few pennies come an go over the years.

The Caboolture Village Museum is the largest tourist attraction in the region, and this general store is just one of over 70 buildings. There are more than 110,000 museum pieces on display throughout the village so it is impossible to cover the area in just a couple of hours.
Thankfully the tearooms are fully operational and they serve a darn good cup of tea at The Boiling Billy with the choice of freshly made scones if desired.
I hope you enjoyed this encounter with this Old General Store. I will return with more historic gems from the Caboolture Village soon.
