Cycling to Kraimorie

March 2019 · 2 min read · Burgas

Today I was cycling with my daughter and friends from Burgas to Kraimorie. We have passed 33 km and spent a wonderful Sunday.

We crossed the Poda Protected Area.

We made a short break in the Conservation Center yard. The artificial pond was full of frogs that were frightened by the noise, but I still managed to shoot a few :)

We went to Ancient and medieval fortress and port of Poros / Foros

The fortress was established in the 2nd century by a Roman Emperor whose purpose was to help the boats and ships entering the lake not to sink into the swampy areas. Today, several ruins and parts of towers are preserved from the fortress, and archaeological research is still taking place.

In 2008, for the first time, archaeological researches were carried out, revealing that there are still remnants of the lost city, ancestor and symbol of the city of Burgas - the ancient and medieval fortress and the port of Burgos / Poros. Here, archaeologists find remnants of the mythical ancient tower depicted on the coat of arms of Burgas. The find proves that the city Burgas has at least 20-centuries of history.

I love when different seasons reveal unknown paths for me that the thick vegetation sometimes conceals. Today, we have discovered such a path that we can cross on the other side of the busy road.

It passes under a traffic-borne bridge and leads to a protected area of Uzunheren.

We continued along a dirt road to Kraimorie.

We went out into a wide meadow, and this beautiful horse watched us.

There were beautiful views along the way, and we stopping and enjoying them.

There were beautiful swans in the sea.

We reached Cape Kafka, where we spent a long rest.
