Climbing Dzhengal peak, Pirin - Bulgaria

September 2020 · 2 min read · Bulgaria

After the ascent of Climbing Kamenitza peak, there was an ascent to Jangala peak.

Early in the morning, with three other friends of mine, we left Tevno Lake and headed to the Valyavishki cirque.

We passed through rocky and steep paths. We enjoyed the beautiful rock formations and vegetation.

On the territory of the Valyavishki circus, there is a lake group of over ten lakes, called Valyavishki lakes. Most of them are small in area, which makes them difficult to distinguish. The lakes are located terraced, on a granite geological base and have a glacial origin.

View of the largest of the Valyavishki lakes:

Located in altitude 2379 meters above sea level. Depth 18.9 meters. Its area is 85.1 decares (the second largest glacial lake in Pirin). In the lake there are two small islands.

Stone shelter. My girlfriend Rumi and I really liked it :)

The rock formations to the top are interesting.

One of them attracted a lot of our attention. A high-lying cave formation that we decided to explore.

There was a steep climb and the terrain of the cave itself was even steeper and sloping. But we managed to get in and take a look.

We continued to climb to the top.

On the way I liked a beautiful rock, and above me a flock of birds flew freely.

Dzhengal is one of the most beautiful peaks in Pirin and is 2730 m high. The view of its granite structure from wherever you look is magnificent. Its rock formations at the top are beautiful, and the views from there are stunning.

After a break at the top we started the descent.

The three Samodivski lakes, photographed from the top.

Beautiful formations that I photographed on a rock, as I descended from the peak.

The weather was getting worse fast. It was about to rain. But we were prepared.
