At this time, last year with my friends, we made a 7-day hiking trip in the Pirin Mountains.
On the 6th day of the trip, we set foot on the "Strazite" (The Guards). Respectful for its appearance, the mountain hill is with a distinctive appearance that makes it easily recognizable among the people.
The height of "The Guards" is approximately 2810 m. Their name comes from the resemblance to figures - guards.
"The Guards" consists of 6-7 small peaks. They start from Polezhan peak to the north to Kaymakchal peak.
With my friends we made the hiking trip from Lake Gazei. Carrying light backpacks, with only the essentials, we began the climb.
The path along the ridge is narrow, passing in places along the very edge. There are markings with stone pyramids.
Throughout the trip we enjoyed the breathtaking views and the typical vegetation of the area.
This place has the most pronounced alpine character in the Polezhan part of the mountain. The last two peaks called Big and Small Guard are known as separate sites. Their ascent is risky if you are not prepared with special alpine equipment and you do not have the necessary training. The continuation of the Big and Small Guard is also called the rock ridge "Ushitsite".
We returned the same way we came.
And the sunset this day against the backdrop of Gazei Peak was captivating.
