Masasa Adventure Episode: 6 "The Lagoon"

February 2020 · 3 min read · Batangas

Welcome to the final part of our series on the Island of Marikaban in Batangas, Philippines. In our video episode today, I will take you to one of the most talked-about sites on the island. A magical place that can be enjoyed when the tide is low. A pool of turquoise colored crystal clear water it is a perfect place to just sit back and enjoy nature. Along with its impressive rock formations, it is a place that should not be missed if ever you visit the island.

Getting to the Lagoon

On the video, you would see a pathway that would lead you directly to the Lagoon. You just need to follow the pathway and you will not miss it. On the pathway, it is surrounded by houses and rooms for rent. Before reserving for accommodation you have two options. If you are planning to spend more time in Masasa beach, I recommend getting a reservation at Mama Nady's. It is where we stayed which I shared on the second episode of our adventure. The second option, if you wish to have a more isolated feel to your stay and closer to the Lagoon. There are houses near there and Mama Nady also has native huts for rent near that area.

Things to Bring

  1. Bring back home the memories from the Lagoon by bringing with you a waterproof camera. The rock formations are also amazing here and it would be a shame not to show off your best pose.
  2. Make sure you bring along your beach towel as a word of warning the water here is very cold. Coming out of the water could leave you shivering.
  3. If you love fishing it is allowed in this area. You could take home your catch to your native hut and cook it over the fire. Unfortunately, I was unable to bring mine along.

You could stay here as long as you like and it is also the best spot to enjoy a romantic sunset that of course if it does not rain. With no further ado, I hope you enjoy our travel video.
