I honestly had never thought that this Thai dish would be such an interesting topic to talk about.. It's just a simple meal I have been having since I was young. Normal meal people here just go for a quick lunch / dinner or sometimes for a challenge who could eat the most of it.. This authentic Thai bowl of noodle a lot of people known as 'Thai Style Boat Noodle' or physically, it's Blood Soup Noodle!

Thai Style Boat noodle soup!
A lot of you who travel a lot or have been to asian / Thailand before, I'm sure you probably heard of this Thai dish. A very small bowl of noodle served with you choices of meat, noodle type and poured over with this raw pork / beef blood soup. Yes, they literally pour the raw one either straight into the bowl before the hot boiling soup or stir it a bit in a dipper while boiling it in the big hot soup pot.
The reason they call it 'Boat noodle' as really, in 1942, people started selling in Bangkok canal. They and would just paddle the boat and selling stuffs all along. Noodle was one of them. One merchant do everything himself in a boat : paddle, make noodle, get money, give back some change and all. That's why, the bowl needed to be small to make it easier to pass on. 'Boat Noodle' that is!
Authentic Thai boat noodle
For me, I would look at a few things to consider it an authentic Thai boat noodle.. The one I showed you guys earlier this year was not really 100% how it's supposed to be but hey, it's so dang yummy! and totally one of my most favourite boat noodle in Bangkok of all time :)
This time at 'Kuay Teow Reua Ngeua Taek (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวเรือเหงือแตก)' is a bit different story..
- They serve noodle in small bowls.. checked
- They provide fresh sweet basils and beansprouts.. checked
- They provide deep fried pork fat / pork grinds.. checked
- They have this delicious authentic Thai dessert 'Kanom Tuay' provided to cool down the heat after a few bowls of boat noodle soup.. checked
Yes! You're supposed to look for those thing to enjoy Thai bloody soup to the fullest!
Kuay Teow Reua Ngeua Taek (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวเรือเหงื่อแตก)
Funny enough, the name of the place translate to English means 'Sweating boat noodle'.. Something like, you would sweat your butts off while dining here - True that!
I found out about this place a few months back when I moved to the area called Lad Phrao. It's truly a street food place right by a street! Love it a lot how flavourful the blood soup is. Already spiced up and you don't even need to put more condiments. The fresh vegetable they provide is way cleaner than many places and it looks fresh everyday, literally!
After the bowl(s), you would also get to try these delicious (Good enough I would say) of the coconut rice 'Kanom Tuay.
It totally became one of the boat noodle places in Bangkok I love and also the fact that it's just near by my house. If you're not in the area, no worries! I'm sure you would find one of these in every corner in Thailand. Though, if you're here in Lad Phrao, Bangkapi, Bangkok, Don't miss out on this one!
