Visit NYC

A few weeks ago, I have spent a week in New York City when I flew all the way from Bangkok to the US. My main purpose was totally to join the first ever DLive official meetup. It was so worth it flying all the way to meet other fellow steemians out there and the funny team DLive got (making new friends is always a fun thing to do!).

Besides that, all I do for almost the whole entire week was visit some places and eat the heck out of everything. Yes, you're probably right, mostly just EAT. LMAO.

My top 3

Since I had such a short time in NYC, I did my homework a bit, of course! The list I followed was 'What to eat in New York City before you die' and a few others. I remember this one as it sounds catchy. Out of the lists from the internet + Some recommendations I got from locals, We (@trinityandgrow and I) had a chance to try quite a few places and here are top 3 that I loved most! Because of its variety and good vibes!

If you have like, 2-3 days, no doubt, go for these 3!

1. East Village

Loved it! A lot! I love all kind of antique and old-school stuff. Here's totally a place to be! No high rises and hectic city scenes.

We went to 3 places the evening we went visit the area.

  • Dan and John's Wings - It was decent but nothing too exciting / I forgot to take pictures LOL

  • Thursday's Kitchen - This place, one of the local highly recommended. It's a Korean Fusion restaurant. It was packed! We had to wait almost 2 hours before getting in.
Is it worth the 2 hour wait? Well, to be honest and shortly, 'Not really' but if you don't mind waiting then go for it. Their service was amazing!

Edamame dumplings - Super interesting taste.

Eel Tacos - Very interesting texture.

Meat balls - ditto.

One thing you might also find interesting (As i did) is their soju cocktails served in a bag with neon light in it. For me, it was a bit strong but tasted pretty good. No pictures but it's a part of the vlog above :)

  • Stuffed Ice-cream - Yes, the name is that simple. Their decoration's also simple but so interesting. Got their blue corn cone with cookie monster, burned honey comb ice-cream flavor. The blue one was good!

2. Smorgasburg Weekend Market

Smorgasburg Weekend Markets' so so so cool! They got 2 locations. Saturdays in Williamsburg and Sundays in Prospect Park. I went to the park one and the atmosphere was pretty chill.

  • Deep fried anchovies - First thing we tried from this seafood stall. Loved their sign 'Oh my cod. Holy shrimp. No squidding' LOLOL

  • Chinese bun - A steamed bun with Pekking duck.

  • Flower ice-cream - Got very attracted to the shop as I do love ube (purple jam). Also loved the dried pineapple they used to decorate the bowl. It was so refreshing and so good it's not too sweet.

2. Chelsea Market

Went to the market with @chefsteve and @loveself. They both are chefs so I consider myself lucky having a chance to hang out and try some local food with them.

The market was also pretty busy and some of the shops you also need to wait in line.

  • Fresh noodle - It's really FRESH! They did the noodle just in front of us! and the texture of it was just not like any other places. It's good! It's so good! Even Chef Steve gave it a thumb up! :)
