Whoa! This Thai vegan place!! [ + Food Porn ]

December 2018 · 4 min read · Bangkok

I know this post will just make @benfreed gone wild with all this plant killing but not animal lol but.. I gotta say, I have been finding all these yummy Thai vegan and vegan food even became one of my favs! Here in Bangkok! We just found another super duper one!

May Kaidee (หมาย ขายดี)

This place we just found out about called 'May Kaidee' Pronounce 'Mai-kai-dee'. My friend who turned 100% completely vegan was actually the one introduced this place to me. I'm glad she did! I don't think I would never find the place myself. It's hidden! Somewhere in Bangkok!

Though, seems like a lot of vegan foreigners know about it as it's located just a block away from Khaosan Road (One of the busiest touristy street in Bangkok). None of Thai people or not that I saw.

They usually serve the normal menu everyday but on Saturday, 6 pm on, there's this 'ALL YOU CAN EAT' Special that we went for! 150THB (5USD) + drinks. Great deal!

We ate like we hadn't eaten for months!

I think it's just an instinct lol Everyone does that at buffet places (... right? lol )

We started with a plate then two then three.. Here are some of the food they serve : Green Curry (แกงเขียวหวาน), Red curry (แกงกะหรี่), Salad rolls (สลัดโรล), deep fried seaweed (สาหร่ายทอด), veggies tempura (ผักเทมปุระ), brown rice (ข้าว), stir fry (ผัดผัก), papaya salad (ส้มตำ), mashed pumpkin (ฟักทองบด), pad thai (ผัดไท) but we're way beyond that so I couldn't be bother getting a photo (excuse! I just forgot to lol)

All of these is totally like you're eating the normal food. They even have vegan sausage in the stir fry so you get an idea!

The Thai vegan dish I love the most at May Kaidee

All the Thai vegan food we had there was so good and really, I couldn't pick one as the most favourite but I would love to show you guys how cool the way they cooked the rice with this woven plant based container.

The only thing I'm not too sure..

I think the deep fried seaweed was just too greasy. I almost couldn't finish the 2 of them I took.

Mango Sticky Rice (ข้าวเหนียวมะม่วง)

This is already something vegan itself. I don't know what coconut milk they use to spread all over but it makes the whole bowls creamy and yum! Also, I love the fact that they use black sticky rice for it. Make me feel healthy eating something unhealthy.. Yes, the mango sticky rice is so damn fatty! We got a few of them! :D

May Kaidee is totally not a big place at all but I love how cozy and simple they decorate the place. The woven trays on the wall and 2 paintings of the previous king and queen. The big blue Thai word you see there is 'สวัสดี' (Sa-was-dee means Hello !)

If you guys are ever around in Bangkok and would love to try some delicious and reasonable priced Thai vegan food, this is the place for you to be! and after this delicious Thai vegan meal at Mai Kaidee there's this Vegan Thai craft beer (Beer is vegan! Right?) at this rooftop bar where you could also enjoy the view in a walkable distance! 'At-mosphere Rooftop Café'
