Supertree Grove
Supertree Grove
After seeing that documentary, I made countless Google view walks around the park and seen dozens of YouTubers walking the skyway between gigantic steel trees. Luckily, a few years later things changed, and Ian and I packed our bags. Our destination was – Singapore.

The first time we went to see the Supertree Grove was in the evening when the light and music show was scheduled. When we arrived, the show had already started, and we were in a hurry to make a few shots before the show would end. Finding the right spot was more challenging than we expected as the place was crowded. Once we found the spot I decided to walk around a little. I was just too excited to stand in one place.

After stepping behind the corner, the reality hit me. I couldn’t believe that I was standing there under the dancing colorful lights. The trees were so much higher than I expected them to be and the music they played that night was really something. The dramatic effect was also added by the volume of the music. It was super loud! An extra dimension to the adventure contributed a crowd of people that gathered there to see the show. To me, it looked like a parallel world was situated under the steel trees and there was a place where everybody can relax. Some were lying on their backs, others were sitting, and just a few of us were walking around. It was such a calming atmosphere. While I was walking among them I had to be careful not to accidentally step on someone’s head or other bodily parts, because people were literally lying all over the place.

With so many distractions, I lost focus of where I was going and where I came from. In addition to being lost in the dark. People looked very similar. In a second, my futuristic illusion got replaced by an anxiety attack. My head was filled with various scenarios. I had no money and I didn’t know the address of the place we were staying. As a “bonus”, I had no phone. Timing to get lost couldn’t be more off. However, I got one thing right: that was the color of my T-shirt. It was bright orange neon color. Ian had his eyes on me all along and when he noticed my head mimicking the chicken, he quickly solved the situation.

When I heard his voice close to me I was instantly relieved. After that, we enjoyed the rest of the show together. After the show, we still had enough time to walk around and noticed that the lighting was very well thought through. The night definitely has its magic and, with a human help, this park shines brightly.
