Real Life Captured #300: Ao Nang Thailand! Part Nine (9 photos)

August 2020 · 2 min read · Krabi Province

We arrived to Ao Nang Thailand on March 21, 2020. We got on one of the last planes from Danang Vietnam before the entire world's air traffic came to a screeching halt due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

I chose this place to settle for the Pandemic for it's got great beaches, healthy affordable and stable food supply, very low crime, organized government, friendly to foreigners, many English speaking Thais, sunny weather, very low cost of living, very high quality and a laid back life style.

Ao Nang is a half hour outside of a Medium sized Thai City of Krabi, with hospitals and an airport. It also gave us the opportunity to live with one foot in the tourist world and one foot out, which I like a lot.

We are not in a rural area nor a densely populated area. We have access to great supermarkets, yet there are not hoards of people. In fact there has been no virus in this area and no lock downs, life has been amazing!

These photos show the real life captured during these strange times in Ao Nang, but for most of these pictures you would never know there was a global pandemic going on.

Historically this part of Thailand was settled long long ago by Sea Gypsies wandering this part of the world by boat. The population here is about 70% Thai Muslim and 30% Thai Buddhist. The way of life for many has not changed in a very long time, and you really feel that when you go to the old world markets.

Some of the photos below are of beaches, monkeys in the jungle, a seaside jellyfish operation, and of course the everyday locals living their real lives captured! Now come along and lets have a closer look at Ao Nang Thailand!
