Travel Pro Places of Interest #165 :Mekong Delta Market in Can Tho, Vietnam! Part One (8 photos)

January 2020 · 2 min read · Can Tho City

Hey there friends and followers. One of my favorite things to do while traveling the world is exploring the markets. The market place is so exciting, it truly has an energy of it's own. The market is where people come together, socialize, and showoff what's good in their part of the world. It's fun, it's cultural, it's tasty, and I love it!

What I love about this market and Vietnam in general is that you can bet that most everything you see in these photos was produced within 30 kilometers of the actual market. Vietnam is a real farm to table kind of country the food is clean, the produce is fresh, tasty, and at prices you may not believe possible.

We were lucky to be here during the height of fruit season. They have all sorts of fruit that would be considered highly exotic to the western world. Things like loongan berry from the leche family, dragon fruit, rambutan, tamarind, and array of different kinds of mangoes, besides a whole lot of other stuff that I frankly don't know the name of.

Walking around this market is like going back in time. The traditional Vietnamese hats, the rickshaws, and the language being loud and of zero understanding to use foreigners are things that will probably never change. Now come along and lets have a look around a traditional market in Can Tho Vietnam!
