Hey there my Steemit friends! In this Travel Pro Places of Interest Series we focus on specific places of interest for a given location. This may come in the form of parks, museums, beaches, cathedrals, markets, and much more. Always an interesting series and always informative!
They say cemeteries are creepy. Well this one was not that creepy, I'm sure the creep factor would have gone way up after the sun goes down; but one thing is for sure this is one of the most unusual cemeteries I've ever visited and I've seen many all over the world.
No, I'm not some weirdo into dead people, I'm just a fan of culture and one of the most interesting ways to get a glimpse into a people's culture is to visit a cemetery. Now this cemetery, in the middle of no where Vietnam is very odd. It seemed like it did not belong.
It was located in a neighborhood with small houses all around, small motor bike paths connecting the houses from one to another. The cemetery looked like it started with just a couple graves a very long time ago, then it in number and it grew into people's front yards! One part of the cemetery went right up to one woman's house who didn't have the space to dry her business's rice pancakes so she laid them out onto the graves themselves to dry in the sun!
Most of the graves were not well kept, and the neighborhood itself was obviously impoverished. There was also a little swamp area that was next to the cemetery. It was an interesting place to say the least especially photographing it while the sun was going down. Now come along, and lets have a closer look at this cemetery in the Mekong Delta in Ben Tre Vietnam.
