Hi Guys!

"Rice consumption exceeds 100 kg per person per year in many Asian countries. One-fifth of the world's population, more than one billion people, depend on rice cultivation for their livelihood. Asia, where about 90 percent of all rice is grown, has more than 200 million rice farms, most of which smaller than one hectare."

Today I want to share a little report a about a rice farm which I visited 3 weeks ago. Rice is the most consumed stable food on our planet. I have read that the rice production in 2018 were 765.000.000 tons. Yes, 765 Million tons!

Top 7 national list of rice production in 2016

  • China - 209.5 Million tons
  • India - 158.8 Million tons
  • Indonesia - 77.3 Million tons
  • Bangladesh - 52.6 Million tons
  • Vietnam - 43.4 Million tons
  • Myanmar - 25.7 Million tons
  • Thailand - 25.3 Million tons

Location

I'm not sure about the exact location of the farm I went to, but it's very easy to find one when ever you drive up to Ayutthaya from Bangkok. After about 1 hour driving you will see field after field on the left side of the road. Some of them have little coffee shops and trails around the fields.

"As you can see on the maps - Ist located on the left side of the road about 20 mins before you arrive in Ayutthaya."

RiceFarm

As soon as you arrive on one of the farms you will see walkway through the fields and you can enjoy a little walk inside. Some of the farms also offer some cold drinks & coffee so its an ideal stop to calm down for a while and get some rest from chaotic Bangkok ;).

Inside of the fields are also some little view points where you can climb up to for having an even better view around the fields.

On the pictures above you can see how beautiful those fields look. Such a shinning green on the plants which stay constant on water. The track leads you about 200m inside the fields and you can take pictures or just sit down and realax for a moment.
