Kimchi for Breakfast (Seoul, Korea) - Travel Report 5

My Post (8).jpg

I always thought it's a myth.. but it's not.. koreans really eat kimchi for breakfast ;)

It was last year in July when I decided to take one week off from my Job to go traveling in Korea. Unfortunately I did not have enough time to explore more than Seoul, but I plan to come back to discover the outbacks of Korea another time. I was pretty excited for this trip , to see one of the countries with one of the biggest entertaiment industries worldwide. Gaming, drama, cinema and of course the pop/karaoke culture.

Seoul

I was really supprised on my way from the airport to Central City (where my hostel was), that Seoul seemed really small on the first look. I imagined it much bigger!

After checking in into my friends Hostel (lucky me) , I went outside to have a walk and explore some of Seouls streets.

One thing I need to mention is: Koreans seem to really like Fashion! A lot of them walk around in pretty "fancy" clothes with never seen Haircuts. Ha!

Gyeongbokgung Palace 경복궁

The Gyeongbokgung Palace, was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty built in 1395, is the largest of the 5 grant palaces. Today you can also find The National Folk Museum inside the area.
It was destroyed in the 20th century by the Imperial Japan and since then it was reconsturcted to it's original form over the past years.

A Hanbok (South Korean) or Joseon-ot (North Korean) is a traditional Korean dress for semi-formal or formal attire during traditional occasions such as festivals, celebrations, and ceremonies. It is characterized by vibrant colors and simple lines without pockets. Although the term literally means "Korean clothing", hanbok usually refers specifically to clothing of the Joseon period - "Wiki"

Entertaiment

As probably everyone of you knows, Korea is really famous for its entertaiment and electroincs.

There was one place in a big mall called "VR (Virtual Reality) Gaming" , where you wear special VR glasses and some fancy gear around your body and get instructed how to act in the virtual world (I have to mention here that im usualy not much of a gamer)..

So with my new VR gear I became some kind of an superhero which had to fight his way towards through crazy aliens and other indefinable creatures and basically just destroying everything around you :D This whole game took around 20 minutes before the instructior got me sloweley out of this world. I remember that i was shaking after he took of my VR glasses and I needed like 10 mins to find the normal balance between reality and virtuality in my brain again :D .. But infact it was an interesting experience.

Overall i was really enjoying my time in Seoul, Korea. It was interesting to see, how developed this country is and also how technolocial advanced Korea is. As I mentioned on the beginning , I really want to come back one day and discover more of this fascinating country.
