Tripreport 5 - Bagan, Myanmar

Good Day Guys!!

In my second Myanmar report I will write about my stay in Bagan, a place which used to have more then 10.000 temples (pagodas) between the 11th and 13th centuries. There are still over 2000 remaining temples in this area left.

After 3 days in yangon I booked my flight from Yangon - Bagan for about 80 US$ which takes about 1 hour 20 minutes. You also could use a Bus (8 hours) or even a train (10 hours) which is cheaper, but not faster. As I was a bit limited on time I had to choose the fastest way.

The flight I booked was supposed to depart at 07:00 AM so I woke up at around 04:30 AM and took a car to the airport at 05:00 AM. I arrived on time , went to the ticket counter and there the women on the desk told me: "Sir, you booked your flight for 16:30 PM" - "God damnit!!!" - So it seemed that I somehow messed up my booking but the women on the desk was super helpfull and changed my flight to 09:30 AM - Great!!

Bagan, Myanmar

I arrived in Bagan at around 11:00 AM - Waited for my Backpack at the really small airport, which was given on person from one of the stuff members to me personally. Something i've never seen before.

Shortly after that I found a driver who drove me in around 30 minutes to the hostel I booked before. For the ride including some really helpful advices from the driver I payed around 4$, which is just as cheap as almost everything else in Myanmar.

After checking in I searched for some locations and decided to go to the View Tower for the golden hour & sunset. So I rented a electric scooter and drove through the beautiful nature of Bagan to find the spot.

The view from above around the area was stunning. But for this kind of photography I was not really prepared as I don't own a tele- lens which definitely would have helped me to get better captures at this spot. But it didn't matter as I for this reason had more time to enjoy up the tower and get lost in the sky and the beautiful nature.

On the next day I went out quite early to see the sunrise which was at 05:46 AM - Unfortunately it was way to foggy to take good photos (except 2 pictures from a horse which you will find below, ha!).. So I went back to the hostel - took an hour more sleep and rented a electric scooter for the whole day again.

Start of the Daytrip Day 2

I pretty much was driving all around the area and just stopped for some pictures or some food on the streets. Later on a couple of other guys from the hostel joined me with their electro scooters and we drove together around to find the sunset a few hours later.

After driving around for a while it was about 5:00 PM when the golden hour started and the light was changing the whole area into something very magical and beautiful.

We decided to go on a view point for the sunset which was located on a small hill as we figured out before on our small map. Unfortunately we where not the only ones who had this idea ^O^ ..

Even it was crowded, the sunset itself was absolutely worth it. Such a stunning light and beautiful colors.

On the 3th day I took it a bit more slow as I really did not have a lot of sleep since I started my trip. I was walking around in the town and old city to have some food and to take a few more pictures.
