Good day everyone!

Today I want to share with you a Trip- Report from Wahabi Sands on my recent trip through Oman. After spending almost the entire week on editing and selecting the pictures I'm really happy to finally write this report about it.

After the Sahara which I visited between 2016/2017 (Merzouga, Morocco) I was really looking forward to see another desert outside of Africa.

My trip started on 01.01.2019 from Muscat. I managed to find a cheap bus (2.2 Rial - 5$) which drives all the way down closed to Wahabi sands. About more details on how to travel on a budget through Oman I will write a separate Travel Report in the coming weeks.

How to go?

If you are a solo traveler, its quite difficult to travel around Oman - But possible. You can find apartments closed to Wahiba Sands in Ibra or Bidiyah for example. The Bus goes up and down from/to Muscat twice a day and is by far the cheapest way to travel around.

Make sure to get to the Azaiba Station when you want to travel by Bus from Muscat

So just make sure to tell the driver to drop you off in Ibra for example. The bus ride itself was surprisingly comfortable as there were big seats inside and Free - Wifi.
Funny thing was that this was the only place in Oman where I found good Wifi, ha :D

Wahabi Sands

After checking- in in my little Hotel I tried to figure out how to go to the desert without joining a big group. It was relatively easy as I told the reception of the Hotel that I want to share a car if someone else wants to join. So a few hours later an older Dutch couple signed up and we were a group of 3 which was perfect. The cost for the 3 hour trip was 12 rial (28$) which was definitely a fair price.

Around 3 o'clock our driver "Ismir" arrived in a super cool V8 Pickup truck, Nice!! - Didn't expect that ;)

At first we drove a bit around the desert and Ismir clearly enjoyed driving up and down the dunes - "But hey, So did we" :D - It was super fun being in the desert in a V8 truck, ha!

After we found our spot everyone followed their own paths - Ismir went to sit down on a dune to play a bit around on his mobile phone , The dutch couple walked a bit further to sit down on another dune to enjoy the upcoming sunset. I for myself was extremely excited to walk (sometimes even run :D) around the dunes, take photos and just get lost in this incredible area.

The sun was almost down and the of course beside the light also the colors changed which made the whole area look even more impressive. !Wow, what a stunning view that was!"

After taking photo after photo and the sun was almost down, I had to remind myself to sit down, relax and just doing nothing. I'm sometimes to excited and over motivated that I have to stop myself or at least slow down ^-^ - And yes, it was a perfect decision. Sitting down on a dune and watch the incredible sunset and being surrounded by absolut no noices. Complete silence. What a moment!
It's a feeling which is hard to describe and I only have it in the desert. Absolute satisfaction.
