This is Tanyard Creek Falls and it is stunning. It is in an extremely urban area which makes it very easy to visit. At the dam side of Lake Windsor just outside of Bella Vista, AR, there is a small community park next to a golf course; it is here you will find the spillway waterfall.

The park has a very nice gazebo.

The park has provided a bathroom, waterspout, gazebo, and a nice parking lot. The walking path here has signage throughout to help you identify various flora and path directions. The natural trail was built and is maintained by volunteers in the area.

There is great signage throughout the walking trail.

Walking the path, we came to an area where the creek ran into a small pond. There were frogs every where here jumping from the path into the water as we walked. It was one of the prettiest places, reminding me of the ponds you see in the movies where, if you are quiet enough, wildlife will make an appearance.

A small pond teemig with lots of life.

Further on the path, as you neared the waterfall, there was the Tanyard Creek in full motion. The bridge we stopped to take a photo at was called the Rapids Bridge and had been replaced recently. Apparently, when the creek here rises from lots of rain, you will find rapids strong enough to take out trees and bridges. Towards the falls, you will see the water cascading down a stairstep looking area.

Why do we love running water so much?

There are two ways up to the falls. You can follow a foot path which runs on the ridge above the rushing water or you can make your way via the creek itself. This is the choice we made. It was not deep and there were plenty of rocks to skip upon to keep your feet somewhat dry. It was thrilling to take this route and gave us both plenty of exercise.

Scott took plenty of photos for sure.

Arkansas has, at least, 186 waterfalls and we have,(as of August 2018) been to four of them. Unfortunately, they are not always running, but when they do they are amazing. If you are ever in this beautiful state, make sure to stop at one of her waterfalls; you won't regret it.

Safe travels everyone!
