Journey to the mountain range Marmarosh. The next morning

October 2019 · 3 min read · Zakarpattia Oblast

I want to say that we are not quite typical travelers. The average tourist tries to make his backpack as easy as possible and puts mostly dry packs in it. But this is not about us at all! We had with us vegetables (sweet and hot peppers, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, all that is crude, so not easy at all) and several types of meat for the preparation of real Transcarpathian bograch (we were in the territory of the Transcarpathian region), and we still had a few kilograms of marinated meat for barbecue. We cooked bograch on a primitive plate in the shepherds' house, and we roasted the kebab on hot coals outside.

I should point out that it was very difficult to light a fire in the thick fog because all the firewood was very wet, but a special gas burner helped us. Using the flame of this device, we were able to dry the first firewood, and when the fire became more intense, even very wet wood began to burn in it, and we were able to get enough heat to cook the kebab.

But let's get back to our bograch. This liquid dish (actually it's a soup) turned out to be delicious, probably because it smelled of smoke and a cheerful mood. She also warmed us up in the cold mountain air. We cooked a huge cauldron of this spicy soup, even we all sixteen we couldn't eat everything at once, so there was a little more bograch left for breakfast.

After we cooked the barbecue outside, we threw several huge logs in the fire and while they were burning, we probably stood for a few hours at a live fire and talked for a long time. This conversation was easy and fun, as if we left all our worries somewhere far below where people live. And here, amidst the majestic mountain silence, everything was somehow different, genuine.

When we went to sleep, the logs in the hearth were only half burned and even the rain at night could not completely quench the heat that was inside these logs. And in the morning I woke up first, then I was able to breathe new fire from this heat. The first thing I did was go to a mountain spring nearby and get some water to brew coffee for everyone. When the coffee was ready, all the rest also woke up and our camp came to life. The girls started making breakfast, and I took the opportunity to go take some more pictures, because when the sun rose above the horizon, incredible views opened up.
