Listen to the soul.

It's not a quiet
valley.

Your sense
is not enough to enjoy

the avalanches,

the scream of their cliffs.

I took these photos high up in the Sierra La Culata National Park, which is located in the Venezuelan Andes, in the state of Merida, during and after a night blizzard that threw sleet on us as we were ascending to reach the first base camp, which we were planning to set up in the valley known as Los Altos de Mifafí, which forms at the foot of the Los Nevados and Los Buitres peaks. Because of the storm we had to spend the night stranded anywhere.

On that occasion I was part of the excursion organized by the Centro Excursionista Caracas, the Caracas Hiking Center, which had the goal of reaching the summit of three peaks, the Piedras Blancas, also known as Misamán, by its indigenous name, which with its 4,748 meters above sea level is the fifth highest peak in Venezuela, and the peaks Los Nevados (The Snowcapped), 4700 Mts. high, and Los Buitres (The Vultures), 4,650 Mts. high, all located within the national park area. Strong weather conditions, for which we were unprepared, stopped us from reaching our destination. Two years later we reach the Piedras Blancas summit and changed the two another peaks by Las Verdes and Los Duendes peaks.
