We came back from Yosemite Valley where there was no internet connection to be found anywhere. It felt good to be away from all the usual phone grabbing every 5 min to check how much comments and vote’s our last post has made 😊
We had never visited Yosemite but heard it’s a beautiful place.
But let me tell you,… Beautiful is a understatement.
The unbelievable rock walls surrounding the valley is something we had never seen before. Not even in Norway, Austria, France or all the other places we’ve travelled to before. Walls towering up straight out of the ground, it feels like there is a Dinosaur to pop out of the bushes at any time.
Thinking about the climbers that dare to climb up the vertical walls of El Capitan is mind boggling. Nothing but respect for these sort of "crazy" people.
Crazy in a good way, people not affraid to seek adventure, even if it comes with some fair share of danger if you dont pay attention.
Or "Free Solo" it, if you name is Alex Honnold.
Can’t even imagine what it must feel like to hang on a wall like that with nothing more than a rope of about 1 inch thick.
We were lucky and managed to pick up the last camping spot in the North Pines campground. Usually these campspots are filled way in advance, so if you ever wanna go there be sure to make reservations in advance.
This campground has very quiet and beautiful sites located in the Yosemite Valley. Because of the cold temperature and the four black bears that were spotted near the campground, we decided to sleep in the car that night.
Words can’t explain the beauty, so why write more? Check out this gallery with some more pictures of this amazing place. See for yourself.
Have one of you guys ever visit Yosemite National Park? We’d love to hear your experience!
After leaving Yosemite National park, we had the idea to drive the Pacific highway following the beautiful west coast. We heard about how beautifull this stretch of highway is supposed to be.
Unfortunately for us, large parts of the Pacific highway we're closed for maintenance. *Just our luck .... *With our heads still thinking in Dutch distances we had a clever idea.
Let’s just drive the first piece along the coast which was still open and then find a detour to get past the closed pieces. Brilliant!
Even after passing a dozen of signs that yelled! NO DETOUR!
We still didn’t felt the need to turn around and weirdly enough just kept thinking, there has to be a way around these closed parts.
What were we thinking…. Off course there wasn’t a way around!
This "stupid" mistake made us turn around at the very last possible point to drive aaaallll the way back to where we came from. After 4 hours! we were at the same point where we started.
Even though a 4 hour detour, is a long one... We kept smiling all the way because it can never be a punishment to drive along the Pacific Highway. Just enjoy every second and mile of it, Some of it even twice,... haha!
You don’t find roads like these in The Netherlands, 4 hours driving takes you from the most southern point to the most north point of The Netherlands. You would have seen almost the whole country haha.
Nevertheless we had a beautiful day filled with spectacular views and great scenery.
Tired from all these new impressions and driving all day we found a campground in Cambria to lay our heads for the night. We set up our tent and cooking in the pitch dark was another new experience of this day, but we loved every minute of it!
Wondering where we are heading next?
