The story of my favorite knife

Today I want to talk about another subject that is very close to me. Close in the truest sense of the word. The fact is that this item is constantly hanging on my belt. This is my favorite Wenger knife.

This knife is not the first Wenger product I had. I bought my very first knife of this company in my student years. He was very simple. It had only a large blade, a bottle opener and a corkscrew.

I must say that in those days I practically did not drink wine and the corkscrew seemed to me completely unnecessary item. Opening bottles of beer was not difficult without a knife. Thus, the main task of the knife was to cut sausage and bread.

This old knife is still in my possession and use, but as often as the main character of my story.

The hero of my story is the Wenger Wood OCEANIA RANGER 55 knife.

It was in Lucerne in 2012. My wife and I were there on a dark October night passing from Italy. This was our first visit to Switzerland. We arrived in the city and after we left the car in a large parking lot, we went in search of a hotel.

We managed to settle in a very comfortable and expensive hotel, where they made a very big discount. And in the morning we went to explore a new city for us.

Lucerne was very beautiful. Despite the weather and autumn, I felt the comfort and warmth of this city.

And now, enjoying the views and the beauty of those places, we found ourselves near a small shop where the famous Swiss knives from Wenger were sold.

My eyes widened! What was there just. A huge number of models with various sets of blades and tools. Knives with wooden handles caught my attention.

I always liked objects made of natural materials more. Of course, plastic is very convenient and functional, but not as close to my soul as wood, metal or stone.

And so, I bought this knife with a wooden handle. A little later, my wife presented me with a custom-made leather case with corporate embossing - camera aperture blades and the letters AMIK. This is my main nickname.

And in 2013, Wenger celebrated its 120th birthday and at that stopped production of Wenger knives. The company was bought by its main competitor, Victorinox.

So my knife turned out to be one of the last that the company produced. This knife was made from West Australian eucalyptus. He has 7 tools and 12 functions.

- Large blade with locking system

- Flat screwdriver with locking system, bottle opener, groove for bending the wire and stripping

- Scan

- Corkscrew

- Can opener

- Saw on wood

- Ring

Today I use corkscrew most of all, since traveling to the Mediterranean countries has instilled in me a great love of wine. Pulling the cork out of the bottle with such an assistant is very simple.

Here's a story about one of my favorite tools.
