If this is your first time reading Mouthgasm, this is the part of the blog where we showcase the drool-and-jizz-inducing food that we often like to treat ourselves to (after spending hours drooling and jizzing over food porn ourselves). Expect copious seafood and veggie dishes!

Serious cocktail face, ON!

Eating at markets are fun and all, but London isn’t exactly known for its great weather. In this instalment of Mouthgasm, we wanted to just share with you guys a few restaurants and a bar that we’ve recently tried out here in London. One thing I want to stress is that our we try and be as honest as possible when it comes to our reviews. Look, if the meal ain’t making my panties wet, I’m gonna say it (and offer ways to improve the food so that is inducing soul-shattering orgasms/mouthgasms - HOW FOOD SHOULD BE!).

Eat Tokyo Covent Garden

- 27 Catherine St, London WC2B 5JS

Fellow steemians, I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Eat Tokyo has been a go-to sushi spot for Aleks and I for many years, and for a lot of our friends as well. It is often packed with fellow Hong Kongers (desperate for their sushi fixes away from home) and is well-loved for it’s great variety and quality of food and relatively decent prices.

mouthgasm5-7.jpg

A couple months back, while we were dining at the Eat Tokyo at Leicester Square, we managed to have a chat with the general manager of Eat Tokyo (another fellow Hong Konger), who advised us that the Covent Garden branch was the chain’s hidden gem - especially when it came to their deluxe sashimi boat. This is because they are the ONLY branch to include lobster!

mouthgasm5-10.jpg

We have often eaten at the other branches of Eat Tokyo and seen their lobster boats (which come with lobster sashimi, sushi and lobster miso soup for £27). Unfortunately, every single time we have tried to order it, they have never had lobster. We’ve also tried ordering their deluxe sushi boat for £50 which is also supposed to come with a lobster and lobster miso soup, but alas, no lobster once again. Instead we just ask them to compensate with some fatty tuna/toro but… to be honest, now that I’ve had the real deal, it doesn’t really add up in terms of value. Aleks says he prefers toro over lobster sashimi, but that’s his business.

mouthgasm5-11.jpg

We must say, as frequent devourers of the beautiful deluxe sashimi boat, we all agreed that the quality of the fish definitely did seem more beautiful at this Covent Garden branch. Just look at how juicy and beautiful each piece looks! They also serve the more expensive turbot at this branch, rather than sea bass and sea bream. You have no idea how horny my tastebuds have been all day as I was editing these pictures. MUSTGOBACKASAP. EVERY WEEK. FUCK IT. EVERY DAY!!!! WHO NEEDS MONEY/SEX/LIFE WHEN YOU HAVE SUSHI!??! (I have a problem…)

mouthgasm5-16.jpg

Honestly if you’re in a group of 2-4, go to Covent Garden, get the boat, you won’t be disappointed. There’s plenty of salmon and tuna, including fatty tuna. The deluxe boat boasts an IMPRESSIVE variety - yellowtail, mackerel, scallop, octopus and ark clam too. And of course, the lobster! For those of you who haven’t tried lobster sashimi before (it was Aleks’s first time for example), it tastes like shrimp and fish at the same time - guaranteed to make you squirm in your seat! Also, you’re in for a surprise in terms of texture ;) Hell, with such an abundant selection of sashimi, if you wanna keep costs down, just order rice to go with it, and BOOM, make your own chirashi don! By the way, when they whipped out the boat and put it in front of us, the lobster was still moving a little bit- be wary, as our gentle souls got a little freaked out.

mouthgasm5-17.jpg

Oh and once you’re done snapping pics of the beautiful boat (DO IT FOR THE STEEM!), they take away the lobster’s head and claws and make this orgasm-triggering lobster miso soup. Literally never getting a deluxe sashimi boat at any other Eat-Tokyo EVER again. I feel so ripped off now for all the previous boats!

Ok, enough raving about the best sashimi boat in London. Here is some of the rest of the stuff we ordered. So more sushi basically…

mouthgasm5-15.jpg

A sushi that I must recommend, especially to those of you who may be less adventurous with your sushi, would be scallop. It is literally a gift from the gods - sweet, succulent, and oh so sexy. Try it, I promise you you won’t be disappointed!

mouthgasm5-13.jpg

One of the things that was missing from the boat was raw shrimp (nigiri , another firm favourite of mine (as some of you may remember from Mouthgasm #2). When they’re fresh, they’re just so juicy and have such a beautiful crunch to them. We also ordered some fatty salmon, just LOOK AT THE FAT ON THAT SALMON. It was so good - we’re still having having wet dreams about our tasty encounter (as well as the rest of the meal) since this fateful evening. Finally we had ordered some yellowtail/hamachi nigiris, but unfortunately they didn’t have enough left to make 3 nigiris, so they asked us whether we would mind if they substituted it for fatty tuna/toro. OH WE DID NOT MIND AT ALL! It sure was our lucky day! One thing I must note about the toro at Eat-Tokyo is that it isn't of highest quality, as fatty tuna is supposed to just melt in your mouth with no nerves or any other chewiness. We've often found that while the slices do melt in your mouth, you are left with some tougher bits to chew, which I guess reflects on the quality of the fish.

mouthgasm5-8.jpg

Eat Tokyo also does a wide variety of crazy rolls. We tend to like to keep things simple - one of our must orders pretty much everytime we eat sushi is soft shell crab rolls (£8). So so good, especially if they’re crispy and fresh, which they almost always are at Eat-Tokyo! Not so sure about the use of asparagus in the rolls though…just slightly inauthentic, not to mention they have a very strong flavour which detracts slightly from the taste of the soft shell crab. (And it makes your pee smell weird, how can we attend our golden shower parties?! (I'm joking) )

mouthgasm5-5.jpg

We also went for some good old tempura, which to be completely honest wasn’t anything to hit home about and was average as best. I also find it weird that they use more traditionally Western vegetables for the tempura such as asparagus. Look at me, shitting on asparagus once again - I do like the vegetable, just not in Japanese food I guess. I much prefer more vegetables that are more typically used in tempura such as sweet potato, mushrooms or pumpkin. What makes good tempura is the batter - it should be light and airy, and I guess I’ve just had better. Something on the menu that did stand out for me was their UNI TEMPURA (£6), something I’ve only seen in London at top notch Japanese restaurants and in Japan. Those of you who have read our first few Mouthgasm posts would know that i’m a diehard uni/sea urchin fan, so it’s not surprise that I’ve been dying to try these sensual gonads cooked in another fabulous way! Unfortunately they were out of uni, but NEXT TIME!!! (For such an expensive ingredient, it’s also at a great price!)

mouthgasm5-3.jpg

Another must order everytime we visit Eat Tokyo are their fried oysters. Our regular readers of Mouthgasm would know that oysters are another jizz-inducing favourite of mine. Normally I prefer them raw, but these fried oysters are guaranteed to cause an explosion in your nether regions. They come nice and hot (FRESH!), which is super important, nobody wants food that’s been sitting around for ages, especially oysters! They drizzle this fantastic brown sauce on top (bulldog sauce i’m assuming?), and even the side salad is amazing and has this lovely ponzu on it. I don’t remember the exact price, but it’s like £4-5 if i’m not mistaken.

mouthgasm5-4.jpg

This is what we love about Eat-Tokyo - they have so many little dishes like this that really don’t cost that much for what they are and portions aren’t bad for the price either! To give another example, you can get a fried squid for about £3, and it’s a pretty sizeable plate for a starter! Here’s also some miso aubergine for again £3-5, always delicious!

✾Quality of food: 5/5
✾Service: 4.5/5 (Offering toro nigiri in the absence of hamachi was lovely, though we felt pressured by the waiters rushing us since we were the last customers of the day)
✾Atmosphere: 4/5 (Can get quite loud and busy)
✾Value for money: 5/5
Overall rating : Hands down, new favourite sushi place in London. The other branches are good but this is the BEST! Fantastic value for what you get, MIND/BODY/PUSSY/SOUL BLOWING sushi/sashimi. Panties so soaked I had to throw them away/sell it online!

BOHO Camden

- 6 Inverness St, Camden Town, London NW1 7HJ

We had the chance to check out the brand new cocktail menu meticulously crafted by mixologist Ash Lambert over at BOHO Camden recently and my god, the makeover is sure to get your tastebuds horny!

boho (16 of 26).jpg

For those of you unfamiliar with London, Camden is a hip neighbourhood famous for its quirky spirit. When I say quirky, I mean a classic London vintage double-decker that’s servings its purpose as an office for a local estate agency. The decor in the bar really seemed to capture that quirky spirit, yet with an air of class, unlike the at times still slightly gritty town outside.

boho (7 of 26).jpg

We got to try a total of 5 different cocktails, actually make that 6, though that last one is kinda fuzzy… But as you can see from the menu, there are a very varied and unique selection of concoctions available. We started with the Icelandic Sour, a beautiful mix of Campari, hibiscus syrup, gin and egg white. Personally I don’t love gin, or even Campari that much, but it was a very enjoyable drink, and definitely one that gin-lovers passionate for sour/bitter flavours would love. Despite being more into sweet cocktails, it was a lovely start and sure got us ready for more!

boho (9 of 26).jpg

Next up was Rum Diary, a tropical mixture of pineapple rum, lime, pineapple and sage syrup, dry curacao and pink grapefruit juice. Inspired by the author of the novel ‘The Rum Diary’ Hunter S. Thompson as well as Ernest Hemingway . Now this sure was more up my alley in terms of drink - when it comes to sweet, I’m obsessed with tropical flavours. Something that we really noticed about these drinks is that they take your mouth on a journey - there is a very distinct beginning, middle and end to the flavours that explode and evolve with every sip. They tell a story. This was so exciting, as now I realised that some of the cocktails I’ve had were actually quite flat and monotonous in terms of the range of flavour that they produce.

boho (10 of 26).jpg

Something that’s great about this new menu is the focus on fresh ingredients, such as the syrups that are used in the cocktails. Unlike some other bars, BOHO prides themselves on making their own, such as the pineapple and sage syrup. It (apparently) is relatively easy to make, and can be much better than syrup that is just bought. The same goes for the hibiscus syrup, and the other reductions and molasses that you’ll soon see in the next cocktails.

The Daring Monkey, a feisty delight consisting of cognac pear liqueur, Monkey Shoulder whisky, lemon, orgeat, pennyshorts & angostura bitters, sure stood out with with it’s unique ingredients and flavours. The sweet, nectar-like cognac pear liqueur really packed a punch, which was then quickly followed by another punch from the orgeat giving it this almond sweetness, blending harmoniously together with some bitter undertones, creating this beautiful melange of flavours. Towards the end of the night, we got to try a sip of the cognac pear liqueur on it’s own, and we were blown away! Sweet, but in your face - such a sexy and full-bodied taste. With all these sultry and spunky flavours, I’m telling you, your tongue goes on a fucking adventure with this drinks, it sure is a sensual (if not sexual) experience! We even managed to have a chat with their lovely ambassador, who explained where we could get our hands on their sweet pear ambrosia.

boho (15 of 26).jpg

Some delicious little hors d'oeuvres were brought out to accompany the drinks. There were some gorgeous vol-au-vents going around, though unfortunately they contained beef so we had to give them a miss. Instead, we were brought these delicious little pastry pockets with butternut squash, spinach and quinoa instead - little bundles of joy! The pastry was nice and thin, and crispy on top, sort of like a Western style wonton actually. The filling was extremely tasty and seasoned to perfection while containing only vegetables. It was full of flavour without needing any extra sauces or condiments, a wonderful little snack which sure aroused our stomachs! I was told that the filling of the wontons is the same of what is in their vegetarian pie which is a staple on their menu.

MORE COCKTAILS! It’s time for A Spice of Paradise - spiced rum, cacao, fig syrup, apple juice, lime. The name didn’t lie, my tongue sure was in paradise. Absolute ecstasy. We had the privilege of trying some of the Green Island Spiced Rum which was used in this drink. I had no idea that Mauritius was a major exporter of rum, which is where this rum came from. Another major export of Mauritius is vanilla, so it’s no surprise that this spiced rum was flavoured with the delicate aroma of vanilla creating one of the most sublime flavours I had ever tasted. In combination with the rest of the ingredients, it sure is a match made in heaven!

Last but not least, we had the Stout Espresso Martini, containing stout reduction, espresso, vodka and kahlua. This is one that all the espresso martini lovers out there are going to LOVE! Not gonna lie but, the stout reduction makes all the difference, creating a much richer and slightly malty aroma, blending perfectly with the smoky coffee flavours. I was quite curious as to how the stout reduction was made, but they quite simply boil stout and evaporate all of the ethanol from it until you are left with a sweet, sugary syrup. What an upgrade to the classic espresso martini!

boho (25 of 26).jpg

Oh and the fuzzy drink I barely remember, their old-fashion, typically my drink of choice. Well guess what, the only thing I do remember about it was that it was amazing and I couldn’t stop complimenting the bartender for it. I know they add molasses to it, which in my opinion seems to definitely be a game changer. Looks like I’m going to have to go back soon and try it in a more sober state in order to properly evaluate it!

boho (4 of 26).jpg

We had a wonderful evening at BOHO Camden, the staff were friendly and happy to explain their cocktails to us and how they make them, revealing all their secrets! The vibes were also excellent, there was live music, and the decor was just so fitting for the area, definitely somewhere we’d visit again for a chilled cocktail night with a messy ending. Oh and, crucial point, they have HAPPY HOUR 5-9pm, £12 for 2 - so worth it, especially for such high quality cocktails!
