Wednesday Walk at Noon in Yangon Myanmar

Wednesday Walk at Noon in Yangon Myanmar

January 2019 · 5 min read · Yangon

I went out at noon in Yangon Myanmar on a very hot day in May 2018 and walked for an hour. I must have been out of my mind. It was so hot that day! These are some shots from the end of the walk and take me right back to it.

Only police and officials can ride motorcycles in the center city. I have no idea why.

I have a lot of photos of this man on various days of my trip. He goes up and down the street with these yellow bags for some reason.

This is how water is delivered all over town. There are centers to get the water. One of those centers was right across the street from here, so I saw a lot of these carts.

And this is one of many communal drinking water centers. Take the cup, remove the plate, dip and sip; or gulp.

One of many gold shops in this neighborhood. The heavy security presence inside kept me back from the door.

Jaywalking between white trucks.

And cars.

Yangonians are the best jaywalkers I have ever seen. I aspire to their skill and fearlessness.

That's all for now. I will show you more of this walk in another post. Despite my understanding very little of what I saw, and melting while looking, the city of Yangon has my heart.

My post today is for the weekly Wednesday Walk Challenge by @tattoodjay. If you walk somewhere, be sure to take photos, and you can enter too!

I used a Canon ELPH160 point and shoot camera for this photo. All shots are straight out of the camera since I am limited on my wifi plan. I plan to soon get photo processing software I can use without wifi - possibly gimp.

Recent events have not been easy, and you can read about them here:

Situation Critical – My rent and wifi are not paid and now are both overdue

UPDATE: I am so happy and relieved to tell you that:

  • my rent and a wifi top up have been paid.
  • the money sent to my US paypal account has arrived, through Thailand to Malaysia!

A bigger post describing current events will be posted soon, but I want to let anyone checking on me know that the first part of the situation is solved and that at least I will not be cut off from the world without a roof over my head.

And I can afford to go to Singapore for my required visa trip. Can you go to Singapore for three days and spend a total of $75 USD? Watch me!

I am so grateful to you all.

It is almost Super Bowl Sunday. Statistics say that only 5% of people with health resolutions for the New Year will still be on track. Is your fitness equipment still out handy, and are you still on a "diet?"

I lost "Half My Size" eight years ago by using natural methods. I started on December 5th and did not give up. You can do it too!
