The Dutch North sea coast!

The Dutch North sea coast!

December 2020 · 2 min read · South Holland

The Dutch coast is one of the tourist attractions of the Netherlands. Approximately 7 million tourists celebrated their holiday along the coast.
It's a billion dollar industry. The most famous place is Scheveningen, near the town of The Hague. In the first picture you can see the Ferris wheel on the pier of Scheveningen. You also can see the harbor of Rotterdam, the "tweede Maasvlakte" on the right side of the picture. That's one of the biggest ports in the world.

I am only on the coast off season, i hate it when its busy and i am more of a winter kind of person. I love to go to the beach if there is a autumn storm or if its very cold. Even then there are many people wo willing to do the same.

The Netherlands has got about 523 kilometers (325 mi) of beaches, of which 353 km (220mi) is the North Sea coast, the remaining 170 kilometers are the coast of the Wadden Sea in the Northern part of the country and in the South the province of Zeeland the Western Scheldt. Various water defense works, including the Delta Works, are part of the coast line.

Along the beach are the dunes, they protect the Netherlands from the sea and stretch as far as several KM inland. There are many smal paths trough the dunes where you can find very nice hiking trails.

And of cours there are many different bike lanes trough the dunes. You literally bike from the north part of the country to the south part trough the dunes.

There is a lot of wild life in the dunes, dear, foxes and many birds can be spotted but then you have to go out very early. I am not a wild live photographer so no pictures of those animals.
