China 27: Wonderful views and delicious food at the end of our China-trip [EN/GER]

We wake up with a strange feeling this morning - we only have two days left in Yangshuo until we fly back to Germany!
Well, instead of moping, we try to enjoy the last days: We planned doing a small hike, eating good food and chilling at the hotel.

For today, we planned to go to Xingping for a wonderful view over the Karst Mountains.
We get there by bus. When we get out of the old vehicle with a dozen other passengers, we realize that Xingping is very dirty and ugly.
Unfortunately, we don’t have any pics of the city and the way up to the mountain to reach the viewpoint.
But once at the top, we are rewarded with a wonderful view.

The river crawling through the Karst Mountains is the Li Jiang - or Li for short. It is about 440 kilometres long and also flows through Yangshuo, where our hotel is located.

Unfortunately, the idyll is somewhat destroyed by the surrounding cities.

After a short break, we start our way back to the banks of the Li River.

And before we travel back to Yangshuo, we quickly go to a special spot:

Well, any idea what it is?
It is probably quite hard to guess without any background information!
Here is the solution:

Do you recognize the similarity? On the Yuan bill, the river is much larger, but the surrounding Karst Mountains are clearly visible, right?
Since this spot is relatively busy, we soon make our way back to the bus station to get to Yangshuo.
There, we have dinner at the West Street in a vegetarian restaurant.
We order dumplings, lotus root, eggplant and a mushroom and vegetable pan.

Everything is incredibly delicious!
Satisfied and happy, we get back to the hotel. There, we enjoy the view of the Yulong River for a while.

Suddenly, we feel like the fisherman gliding across the river on his raft. We notice what a wonderful time we have had in the last three weeks and realize that we have moved like this fisherman little by little to explore the Middle Kingdom with all its wonderful landscapes.

Even if we have to say goodbye and even if our great adventure in China is over now, we fly back to Germany with thousands of memories, experiences and of course fabulous shots!

Unglaubliche Aussichten und superleckeres Essen zum Schluss unserer Reise

Mit einem mulmigen Gefühl wachen wir heute Morgen auf – uns bleiben nur noch zwei Tage bis zum Rückflug nach Deutschland!
Nun, anstatt Trübsal zu blasen, versuchen wir die letzten Tage auszukosten, auf denen noch eine kleine Wanderung und Chillen im Hotel anstehen.

Das Ausflugsziel heute ist die Stadt Xingping.
Wir reisen für wenige Yuan mit dem Bus in die Stadt – leider stellen wir bei unserer Ankunft fest, dass Xingping sehr dreckig und hässlich ist.

Daher haben wir auch keine Bilder von der Stadt selbst – wir sind gleich zum Aussichtspunkt auf einen Berg gewandert.
Oben angekommen werden wir mit einer wundervollen Aussicht belohnt und sind plötzlich doch sehr zufrieden, dass wir den Ausflug in diese Stadt heute auf dem Programm hatten.

Der Fluss, der sich hier durch das Karstgebirge schlängelt, ist der Li Jiang – oder kurz: Li. Er ist insgesamt ca. 440 Kilometer lang und fließt auch durch Yangshuo, wo sich unser Hotel befindet.

Auf dem Li-Fluss sind einige Schiffe unterwegs.

Leider wird die Idylle jedoch durch die umliegenden Städte etwas zerstört.

Hässliche Städte am Li-Fluss

Nach einer kurzen Pause machen wir uns auf den Rückweg und laufen an das Ufer des Li-Flusses.

Bevor wir uns auf den Heimweg machen, lichten wir jedoch noch schnell einen besonderen Spot ab:

Nun, ohne Hintergrundinformation wohl sehr schwer zu erraten!
Hier die Lösung:

Erkennt ihr die Ähnlichkeit? Auf dem Yuan-Schein ist der Fluss noch deutlich größer, aber das umliegende Karstgebirge ist gut erkennbar, findet ihr nicht?
Da an diesem Spot, wie ihr euch denken könnt, relativ viel los ist, machen wir uns bald auf dem Weg zurück nach Yangshuo.

Dort essen wir dann an der West Street in einem vegetarischen Restaurant zu Abend.
Wir bestellen Dumplings, Lotus-Root, Auberginen und eine Pilz-Gemüse-Pfanne.

Alles ist unglaublich köstlich!
Gesättigt und glücklich kehren wir ins Hotel zurück. Dort genießen wir noch eine Weile den Ausblick auf den Yulong-Fluss, der übrigens in Yangshuo in den Li-Fluss mündet.

Plötzlich haben wir das Gefühl, wie der Fischer auf seinem Floß über den Fluss zu gleiten. Wir merken, was für eine wunderschöne Zeit wir in den vergangenen drei Wochen hatten und realisieren, dass wir uns wie der Fischer Stück für Stück fortbewegt haben, um das Reich der Mitte mit all seinen wunderbaren Landschaften zu erkunden.

Auch wenn wir nun Abschied nehmen müssen und unser großes China-Abenteuer zu Ende ist, fliegen wir mit tausenden Erinnerungen, Erlebnissen und natürlich sagenhaften Aufnahmen zurück nach Deutschland!
