My Balkan-Roadtrip 2018: Exploring SOFIA (+ my first Steemit Meeting) [EN/DE]

Hello Steemians! Today, as already announced in the last post, I'm writing you from the Bulgarian capital Sofia. The three-and-a-half-hour drive from Skopje was a smooth one and I was once again surprised by the friendliness of the border officials. By the way, if you ever go to Bulgaria, you need a toll sticker here not only for the motorway, but for all roads. Fortunately you can buy them right at the border. A week ticket costs 8€.

Hallo Steemianer! Heute melde ich mich, wie im letzten Post bereits angekündigt, aus der bulgarischen Hauptstadt Sofia. Die dreieinhalbstündige Etappe von Skopje habe ich ohne Probleme hinter mich gebracht und war wieder aufs Neue von der Freundlichkeit der Grenzbeamten überrascht. Übrigens, falls ihr mal nach Bulgarien fahrt, ihr braucht hier nicht nur für die Autobahn eine Vignette, sondern für alle Straßen. Praktischerweise kann man sie direkt an der Grenze kaufen. Ein Wochenticket kostet 8€.

After moving into my hotel room there was already the first highlight. @best-trip-eva, one of my favourite travel bloggers on Stemit, lives here and wanted to meet me. Of course, I didn't hesitate for long. Eva showed me a nice little park and afterwards a traditional Bulgarian restaurant, where I could try the Bulgarian version of Cevapcici for the first time. It was the first meeting with another Steemian for both of us. Unfortunately it was already too dark when we wanted to take a picture for you together. Nach dem Bezug meines Hotelzimmers gab es gleich mal das erste Highlight. @best-trip-eva, eine meiner Lieblingsreisebloggerinnen bei Stemit, lebt hier und wollte sich mit mir treffen. Natürlich zögerte ich nicht lange. Eva zeigte mir einen schönen kleinen Park und danach ein traditionell bulgarisches Restaurant, in dem ich zum ersten mal die bulgarische Version von Cevapcici probieren konnte. Es war für uns beide das erste Treffen mit einem anderen Steemianer. Leider war es schon zu dunkel, als wir ein gemeinsames Foto für euch machen wollten. Falls ihr ihren Blog noch nicht kennt, schaut unbedingt mal bei @best-trip-eva vorbei! Ich liebe vor Allem ihre Berichte über die wunderschönen Orte an der Westküste der USA.

Yesterday I explored the city center of Sofia on foot and as you can see, the weather was perfect for a city walk.

Gestern erkundete ich dann zu Fuß das Stadtzentrum von Sofia und wie ihr sehen könnt, war das Wetter wieder mal perfekt für einen Stadtspaziergang.

Sofia is a very green city. There are countless smaller and larger parks and the inhabitants love to meet and spend time together there. You really have to be lucky if you want to get a seat on a park bench.

Sofia ist eine sehr grüne Stadt. Es gibt unzählige kleinere und größere Parks und die Einwohner lieben es, sich dort zu treffen und Zeit miteinander zu verbringen. Man muss schon Glück haben, wenn man einen Sitzplatz auf einer Parkbank ergattern will.

The main attraction of the city is definitely the huge Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Admission is free, but if you want to take pictures you have to pay the equivalent of 5€. However, unobtrusive snapshots with a mobile phone are not subject to a fee, as long as you don't get caught! 😉

Die Hauptattraktion der Stadt ist auf jeden Fall die riesige Alexander-Newski-Kathedrale. Der Eintritt ist grundsätzlich frei, wer fotografieren will, muss aber umgerechnet 5€ bezahlen. Unauffällige Schnappschüsse mit dem Handy sind aber nicht gebührenpflichtig, solang man nicht dabei erwischt wird! 😉

After a late lunch and a short nap, I went back to the cathedral for my evening photo tour, but this time by subway. The single ticket is quite cheap at the equivalent of €0.80.

Nach dem späten Mittagessen und einem kurzen Schläfchen, ging es dann für meine abendliche Fototour nochmals zur Kathedrale, diesmal aber mit der U-Bahn. Das Einzelticket ist mit umgerechnet 0,80€ recht günstig.

This time I was very happy with my sunset and night shots. It rained a bit now and then, but at least there was a bit of drama in the sky.

Ich war diesmal sehr zufrieden mit meinen Sonnenuntergangs- und Nachtaufnahmen. Es regnete zwar zwischendurch ein wenig, aber wenigstens gab es dadurch ein bisschen Drama am Himmel.

Today I'm going on another trip to nature. The Vitosha Mountains, with peaks up to 2,300 metres high, are only a half-hour drive from downtown Sofia. I am very curious and of course I will tell you about my experiences there in a few days. See you guys soon!

Heute mache ich wieder einen Ausflug in die Natur. Das Witoschagebirge mit seinen bis zu 2.300 Meter hohen Gipfeln, liegt nur eine halbstündige Autofahrt von der Innenstadt von Sofia entfernt. Ich bin schon sehr gespannt und natürlich werde ich euch in wenigen Tagen von meinen Erlebnissen dort berichten. Also dann bis bald, Leute!
