Most Beautiful Waterfall Ever

Summary

By far the most beautiful waterfall we have seen and one of the finest in South East Asia. 30 min drive from Luang Prabang.

The Experience

We were just amazed by the waterfall of Kuang Si. It is located about 30 min drive from Luang Prabang to the South. We made our way there on a scooter. When we arrived, we paid for the entrance and got into a bear rescue centre.

When we went up to the waterfalls we discovered that there were many of them. Each one was better than the other. Some were small and cute, others were gigantic and impressive. We didn't know the beauty of the rest of the waterfalls so we began to swim in the first one which was a small one.

Tiny but cute

The reason for the water to be so blue is that the water flowing down passes through numerous limestones. The debris makes the light reflect from the water surface. That was why we couldn't see deep inside the water. It was always very bright blue.

We were left in paradise as we walked on the hiking trail up to the mountain. Then we made a short break and took an ice cream. I know, totally not compatible with nature but we just had to do it.

Then we discovered the big waterfall which was so impressive. We must have stayed there for 20 minutes because it was so breath-taking.

We went even deeper into the mountain and discovered a track of stairs that was overrun by the waterfall.

And the last waterfall we discovered just before we realised how far the hiking trail went. It was very long indeed, something on the order of 4 hours walk. So, we decided to return back from there.
