Exploring the UK - Tate Modern Details

The Tate Modern gallery is possibly one of my favourite places to visit in London. I often think it's overlooked but offers a variety of free exhibitions and nice spaces to eat and drink. With the new building they have built it's almost twice the size and has beautiful views from the top of the tower, which is also free. A great place for anyone, whether a tourist or local.

I myself am a Tate member so whenever I'm in London I like to visit there and have a look around. Sometimes I take my film camera and a sketch book, quickly scribbling down any ideas or documenting some of the art with my camera. Obviously cameras are not allowed in all of the paid exhibits, but the free ones are ok to photograph if you would like to. As it's a museum I limit the amount of photography I take, but since I carried my film camera along with me on this day I decided it would be fun to take a few pictures while I walked throughout the building.

As it seems to always be the case, I was mesmerised by the light coming through and the shadows that were being splayed over the furniture and concrete that makes up most of the build. This building itself has a weird play on materials and tricks your mind, sometimes it feels very hollow and open, also cold considering the materials used, but other materials feel warm and the ceiling gets lower as you walk in to some of the gallery areas. Obviously you wouldn't live here but as a museum and art gallery this is a really great space to explore. Here are a few details that I took recently on my one of my old film cameras. Enjoy.
